Autonomy Retrieval

Built on our unique pattern-recognition technology, Autonomy's core engine, IDOL Server, provides a fully-automated and precise means of retrieving information. It allows content to be searched in any language and any format, wherever it is stored, and presented with hyperlinks to similar information, automatically and in real-time.

Conceptual Retrieval

Features & Benefits

Automated Content Aggregation and Management

  • Leverage content from any information source, structured or unstructured to save processing costs
  • Leverage existing infrastructure and can be integrated with any system in place

Advanced Retrieval Capabilities

Autonomy uses their unique Unstructured Query Language (UQL) to provide powerful natural-language search facilities. These include relevancy ranking, term highlighting, clustering, automatic summarisation and query-by-example. Its language-independent capability enables cross-language searching, which is critical for global organizations.

Automatic Hyperlinks

Autonomy's retrieval interface recommends related articles, documents, affinity products and services via automatic hypertext links. Because links are automatically inserted at the time a document is retrieved, they can include references to documents and articles written long after the original document was published.

Autonomy can be used to cross-sell products and services. It can also keep your site selling, regardless of inventory, by identifying alternative, related products when a requested item is unavailable.

Automatic Summarization

Autonomy retrieval interface has the ability to automatically generates conceptual and contextual summary.

Legacy Retrieval

IDOL's query semantics, the Unstructured Query Language (UQL), also supports legacy search methods, including:

  • Keyword search, including the support of operators such as AND, OR, NOT, NEAR, DNEAR, SOUNDEX, FUZZY, RANGE, etc
  • Boolean restrictions across multiple metadata fields
  • Parametric search to narrow a search space down through successive metadata selections
  • Support of sorting by relevance and/or arbitrary numbers of metadata fields
  • Case Sensitive/Insensitive Search
  • Ordered Term Search
  • Paragraph, Sentence, Section, Exact Phrase, Wildcard, Proximity, Weighted Search
  • Any Word / All Words
  • Begins with / Ends with Search
  • Stemmed / Non-stemmed Search
  • Thesaurus
  • Soundex
  • Fuzzy Search
  • Structure Field Search (exact, fuzzy, sub string, alphabetical range, numeric range, date range, etc.)
  • Related Suggestions
  • Results weighted by phrase density/word occurrences
  • Results weighted by sum of term scores
  • Results weighted by product of term scores
