Autonomy Service Dashboard |
Autonomy systems are used throughout the world to provide global corporate solutions and global Internet presence. Autonomy solutions fully automate and power systems with many millions of pieces of content, being delivered to many millions of users.
A prerequisite for any organization in this day and age is to be able to effortlessly control and maintain such an infrastructure from any location, regardless of scale or complexity.
Founded on an infrastructure technology that is modular by design and facilitates linear replication and global distribution, Autonomy's infrastructure is a completely scalable solution delivering high availability and unrivalled high performance. In order to sustain such an environment, Autonomy now delivers a comprehensive set of administration tools to seamlessly manage the infrastructure from any remote location.
Remote & Intuitive Administration
The Autonomy Service Dashboard, is a stand-alone front-end web interface that allows administrators to manage all Autonomy modules /services running locally or remotely. The Dashboard communicates with Autonomy's Distributed Service Handler (DiSH) module that is the back end process for monitoring and controlling all the Autonomy child services.
Autonomy Service Dashboard provides the administrator with a list of all child services that DiSH is monitoring, together with control buttons and status information.
With the introduction of the Autonomy Service Dashboard, administrators can now in conjunction with DiSH use an intuitive interface that enables them to control and monitor IDOL performance with great ease.
The administrator can use the Dashboard to obtain information provided by the DiSH back end service. This allows the administrator to control, monitor and manage the Autonomy modules running in the system. When the system expands to include a new module, all that is required is for DiSH to be notified of this new addition and this will then be reflected in the Dashboard.
Autonomy Service Dashboard Functionality
The Autonomy Service Dashboard includes the following functionality:
Web Interface
Autonomy Service Dashboard provides an intuitive web based administration interface that displays all active Autonomy operations.
- Displays the service type (Connector, ACI Server, Service, etc.)
- Service Navigation; each child service shows information about that service (Configuration, Monitors, Alerts, etc.)
- Status of each child (Paused, Running, Stopped, Started etc.)
Control panel
The administrator has the full capability to control all services running using the Autonomy Service Dashboard control panel. Features include:
- Start a service or continue a paused service
- Stop a service
- Pause a service
- Remove a service from the DiSH's control
- Edit the DiSH's control of a service
- Set DiSH schedules to audit a specified service
- Configure a service
- Restart a service (Useful when restarting applications after modification)
- Display a service's statistics
- Generate graphs for a service's audit data
- Reset a service
- Display a service's log stream information
- Setup alerts on Autonomy services
Editing & Configuration
From time to time the administrator may decide to alter the features and functionality of the Autonomy installation. Whether adding a new service, aggregating new content or expanding the infrastructure, Autonomy Service Dashboard delivers a single interface to configuration of the Autonomy Service.
- Online view of child service configuration file
- Allows remote modification of configuration files
- Allows uploading the new configuration files to the service so it can be restarted with its new configuration
Monitoring
Once all Autonomy services have been suitably configured the administrator has all the tools in place to monitor the performance of the Autonomy installation. Autonomy Service Dashboard displays the statistics and status information of every child service.
Configuring an Autonomy Service
Displaying a service log
Generating service graphs
Viewing service statistics
Information displayed includes:
- Start time
- Product version, Product Type
- Service Ports
- Current up time
- ACI Ports (if applicable)
- Control buttons that allow viewing of current log files and any previously saved log files found
- Any other statistics unique to the child service (e.g. Number if documents, number of requests, average requests per second, average response time, etc.)
- Generation of graphs representing IDOL Server performance
Alerting of Autonomy services
High availability is a prerequisite for any organization. In order to sustain such an environment, administrators need a mechanism in place that alerts them to any unforeseeable downtime. To minimize this occurrence Autonomy Service Dashboard enables the administrator to be alerted to any user defined circumstances.
- Allows setup of an email alert triggered by any statistic
- Configuration of an alert triggered when certain statistics values move outside a predefined range
- Configuration of a periodic email alert containing status summary reports
- Based on demand Autonomy will also enable alerting functionality via SMS/Mobile Alerting
