Autonomy, an HP Company, Unveils HP Application Information Optimizer 7.0
Solution boosts enterprise application performance while reducing an organization's database footprint
PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept. 24, 2012 - Autonomy, an HP Company, today announced the availability of HP Application Information Optimizer 7.0, an enterprise solution that helps companies boost application performance, meet critical compliance obligations and reduce data storage by as much as 48 percent.(1)
Organizations are struggling with multiple bloated application databases that contain inactive structured data that has built up over many years. Conventional thinking has been that this data can only be accessed via the application that created it, so the data is never moved or deleted. The result is degraded business applications performance, additional storage costs and never-ending labor costs associated with keeping obsolete applications running past their prime. Further, since this bloated data is often not governed by defensible disposal policies, it creates an unnecessary liability for organizations during the discovery phase of any future litigation.
HP Application Information Optimizer directly addresses an organization's systemic bloated data problem by safely removing and preserving inactive structured data from production or legacy systems, while preserving data integrity and access. The data can be moved into economical on-premise or cloud-storage environments, such as HP Cloud Services. The solution's prebuilt archiving modules also support a broad range of enterprise applications, including Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft and Siebel. In addition, HP Application Information Optimizer's integrated data extraction wizard makes it possible to safely and quickly extract data from any industry-standard relational database to enable application retirement or data archiving.
HP Application Information Optimizer is a core solution within HP's meaning-based information governance solution portfolio. It helps organizations to boost mission-critical application performance and retire obsolete applications, while ensuring that important structured data is always accessible and properly managed. This saves organizations millions of dollars in unnecessary storage and operational costs. With data properly governed and defensibly disposed, compliance risk and litigation risk also can be greatly reduced.
“Businesses are increasingly looking to gain a competitive edge, by driving down costs, improving productivity, mitigating risks and maximizing information value,” said Sara Radicati, chief executive officer of the Radicati Group, a leading industry analyst firm. “HP Application Information Optimizer takes a unique approach to storing, managing and extracting value from structured data that is based on a robust selection of pre-built integrations to cloud storage, comprehensive information management systems and high performance analytics platform. We believe that the HP solution provides excellent flexibility and quick return-on-investments for enterprises of all sizes.”
HP Application Information Optimizer 7.0 is designed to provide the following capabilities:
Safely convert raw data from application databases into an industry-standard XML-format "business document" that can be easily stored and accessed by a broad spectrum of business applications and analytical solutions
Seamlessly integrate with the industry-leading HP Autonomy Consolidated Archive on-premise or cloud-based solution for comprehensive information management of both structured and unstructured information.
Directly integrate with HP TRIM, the company's DoD 5015-compliant records-management solution, to ensure that structured records are appropriately managed to meet regulatory or compliance obligations.
Work in tandem with the high-performance HP Vertica columnar in-memory engine for advanced analytics and Autonomy Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) for meaning-based universal search across all production and legacy data repositories.
"Enterprise data is growing at an exponential rate, leading to unsustainable costs for organizations, a drastic decrease in productivity related to finding and leveraging information, and unacceptable risk around compliance and eDiscovery," said Mike Sullivan, chief executive officer, Protect Enterprise Solutions, Autonomy, an HP Company. "HP Application Information Optimizer and its seamless integration to solutions within our meaning-based information governance portfolio help businesses take on these challenges with confidence, while at the same time providing an unprecedented opportunity for companies to get more value out of their business information."
