Aurasma goes 3D at DEMO 2011, bringing the physical and virtual world closer together

World's first visual browser reaches 2 million installations
Unveils 3D Auras and support for gesture recognition
Core Aurasma kernel available free for app developers to embed

SAN FRANCISCO, September 14, 2011 - Aurasma will take the DEMO stage today and unveil beta 3D graphics support and gesture recognition. Aurasma is the world's first visual browser and uses powerful image and pattern recognition technology to merge the physical and virtual worlds.

Aurasma runs on mobile devices and uses images and objects in the real world as triggers. It recognizes and understands the images and objects in 3 Dimensions - much in the same way the human brain does - and then seamlessly blends the real world with interactive content such as videos and animations called "Auras". Auras can be created for print images, product packaging, even physical places - and soon Auras will also be 3D and fully interactive using gestures.

Aurasma currently supports iPhone4, iPad and high powered Android devices and is available for free download in the App Store and Android Marketplace. Two million users have now downloaded Aurasma and Aurasma-enabled applications.

Aurasma's Matt Mills, Director of Aurasma, said, "Aurasma brings together the physical with the virtual, transforming the way we all see and interact with the world around us. In the demo we'll unveil today, we're enhancing reality by integrating 3D objects and interacting with them using gestures. Aurasma is an enabling platform technology and we've got some great ideas about how it could be used, but the best ideas always come from developers and users themselves. That's why we're making the core Aurasma kernel available free for embedding into other apps - we can't wait to see what the DEMO audience comes up with."

Aurasma is a highly scalable platform and can support over half a million virtual objects in the real world. Over 200 commercial partners have used Aurasma in their advertising campaigns or embedded Aurasma's features into their own application using just a few lines of code.

Six minutes at DEMO Fall 2011: Matt Mills will present Aurasma on Wednesday, September 14, at 8:41am.
