BINGHAM McCUTCHEN LLP TO STANDARDIZE ON AUTONOMY'S MEANING BASED GOVERNANCE PLATFORM
AM Law 25 Law Firm to Leverage Autonomy's Products to Improve Lawyers' Productivity and Client Services
ILTA 2010 - Las Vegas, NV - August 23, 2010 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that Bingham McCutchen LLP, one of the world's leading law firms with 1100 lawyers in 13 offices in the U.S., Europe and Asia, has chosen to standardize on Autonomy's Meaning Based Governance platform to manage all of its content and knowledge management requirements.
Bingham has been a long-standing Autonomy customer since 2003, using the iManage WorkSite product to provide its lawyers with a collaborative environment for storing all of their case matter documents and a system for tracking updates, milestones, and client communications. Powered by Autonomy's core infrastructure software, the Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL), WorkSite has allowed the firm to effectively access and process all of its content from a single interface for easier retrieval, collaboration and reuse. Following the success of the WorkSite implementation, Bingham has recently selected additional Autonomy products to meet its growing compliance needs, including iManage Universal Search (IUS), iManage Records Management and iManage ConflictsManager.
IUS will provide Bingham's more than 2,400 globally dispersed users with the capability to quickly locate case matter documents irrespective of the location of the repository. It will also provide them with the ability to quickly identify subject matter experts and effectively respond to business development opportunities in real-time. Powered by IDOL, IUS forms an understanding of data across languages, data types and jurisdictions and identifies patterns between disparate pieces of information, ensuring comprehensiveness of the results for lawyers and their clients. In addition, Bingham will be implementing the Autonomy iManage Records Management solution to seamlessly manage the lifecycle of all records, including physical and electronic documents.
Screening for conflicts of interest is a critical process for law firms when on-boarding new clients, to protect the interests of existing clients and to comply with professional and ethical responsibility rules. The process has become increasingly complex for large law firms like Bingham, given the rise of mergers and acquisitions, globalization and the increase in lateral hires within the legal industry. Bingham has selected Autonomy iManage ConflictsManager to help the firm reduce the risk and time required for its new client vetting process. Unlike legacy approaches, where traditional keyword searches are limited to a finite number of data sources and laden with manual processes, Autonomy iManage ConflictsManager will allow Bingham to automate time-consuming steps in its vetting procedure and minimize the risk associated with this process.
"As a leading international law firm with a dispersed workforce, we rely heavily on the right technology to connect our lawyers with the most relevant information and experts in real-time," said Robert Meadows, Bingham's CIO. "We view the Autonomy suite of products as a cornerstone of our document management, records management and knowledge management initiatives. These products will become instrumental in helping all of our practice groups locate relevant information for a given matter, as well as improving the exchange of information between practice groups and clients. As a result, we will be able to streamline our operations and increase our lawyers' productivity."
"Clients hire law firms for their legal expertise, not for their leadership in information technology," said Neil Araujo, CEO of Autonomy Protect Legal Systems. "However, technology plays a vital role in an attorney's ability to deliver high quality services in a timely, efficient manner. Autonomy's unique approach arms lawyers with the ability to pinpoint the exact information and firm expertise needed to help their clients succeed. We are delighted that Bingham has standardized on Autonomy as its technology provider, and we look forward to working with them for years to come."
