AUTONOMY HAS FASTEST ARCHIVING REVENUE GROWTH AMONG THE TOP SIX SUPPLIERS

Cambridge, UK and SAN FRANCISCO - June 8, 2010 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that Autonomy was the fastest-growing archiving software company of the top six market providers in 2009, according to a new report from research firm IDC. According to IDC's report titled "Worldwide Archiving Software 2009 Vendor Shares," Autonomy grew archiving revenues in 2009 by 17.3%, which reflects a higher growth rate than its closest competitors.

IDC defines the archiving market as software that provides policy-based controls for copying, moving, purging (delete from primary storage), retaining (in read-only fashion for a defined period), and deleting (delete from secondary storage) data. Some tools provide for more sophisticated functions such as content-based data management, indexing, and search/retrieval. Email and unstructured file archiving products are included in this market. Not included are products that perform database archiving.

"The archiving market is emblematic of major trends taking place in global business today," said Mike Lynch, CEO of Autonomy. "With eDiscovery now an indispensable element of any organization's legal strategy, more complex and numerous regulatory requirements, and increasing hardware storage costs, organizations are looking for a better way to manage information. Only Autonomy offers a meaning-based approach to archiving - resulting in lower costs and a more precise and intelligent information governance platform for companies. This has driven our strong growth in archiving, and helped organizations world-wide better compete and operate in today's marketplace."

Autonomy provides a comprehensive next-generation archiving platform - which includes both cloud-based and on-premise solutions and meets the diverse archiving demands of all types and sizes of organizations. These solutions include Autonomy Digital Safe, which manages the world's largest cloud-based archive at over 14 petabytes, and the Autonomy Enterprise Archive Solution (EAS), a highly scalable on-premise solution that captures and preserves electronically stored information (ESI) for litigation readiness, information governance, and storage optimization. Autonomy also offers Autonomy Arcpliance, an on-premise digital archiving appliance that is ideal for mid-sized businesses or organizations seeking a simplified yet scalable solution for specific tasks - such as archiving application, divisional, or location-specific data.

Powered by Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL), Autonomy's archiving solutions automatically ingest, de-duplicate, index and extract metadata from files. Autonomy IDOL automatically understands how to manage each piece of content, thus eliminating the burden of acquiring, implementing and managing local compliance grade storage, including the time and cost associated with backups, administration, software upgrades and technical support.
