AUTONOMY HAS FASTEST ARCHIVING REVENUE GROWTH AMONG THE TOP SIX SUPPLIERS
Cambridge, UK and SAN FRANCISCO - June 8, 2010 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that Autonomy was the fastest-growing archiving software company of the top six market providers in 2009, according to a new report from research firm IDC. According to IDC's report titled "Worldwide Archiving Software 2009 Vendor Shares," Autonomy grew archiving revenues in 2009 by 17.3%, which reflects a higher growth rate than its closest competitors.
IDC defines the archiving market as software that provides policy-based controls for copying, moving, purging (delete from primary storage), retaining (in read-only fashion for a defined period), and deleting (delete from secondary storage) data. Some tools provide for more sophisticated functions such as content-based data management, indexing, and search/retrieval. Email and unstructured file archiving products are included in this market. Not included are products that perform database archiving.
