AUTONOMY NAMED BRITAIN'S MOST ADMIRED COMPANY IN THE SOFTWARE AND COMPUTER SERVICES SECTOR

Top UK Companies Acclaim Autonomy's Agenda-Setting Business Success

Cambridge, UK and SAN FRANCISCO - December 2, 2009 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that it has been named the winner in Management Today's Britain's Most Admired Companies (BMAC) awards 2009 in the Software and Computer Services sector. Autonomy was bestowed the coveted accolade following a rigorous assessment procedure by the country's leading business minds. The BMAC awards recognize outstanding corporate reputation by getting to the heart of what makes businesses succeed. Canvassing the opinions of 200 of the UK's largest companies, in various sectors, they are the only awards of their kind, and are renowned for celebrating the market's assessment of true business superiority.

Autonomy was founded on a simple yet powerful premise: enabling computers to detect patterns in information the way humans do in order to dramatically change the way in which we interact with information. Autonomy's cornerstone technology, the Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL), is able to form an understanding of all data, including structured, semi-structured and unstructured content, and automatically process it. Thanks to its ground-breaking pattern-recognition capabilities, IDOL is universally recognized for its ability to penetrate all types of information silos, enabling organizations to derive maximum value from their corporate assets and automate a raft of operations for business gain and risk mitigation.

Britain's Most Admired Companies is a survey created and conducted by Professor Mike Brown of Birmingham City University Business School, the results of which are published by Management Today. Each year Professor Brown asks executives from Britain's 10 largest public companies across 25 sectors to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of other companies in that respective industry. Autonomy was bestowed the prestigious accolade at an awards ceremony held at Claridge's in London and attended by board-level business leaders from the UK's most successful companies.

"Britain's Most Admirable Companies is an exclusive set of awards that recognize the opinions of leading UK companies, offering a unique insight into the components of corporate reputation. Autonomy has deservedly won the overwhelming respect and admiration of its peers and we are delighted to acknowledge this achievement," commented Matthew Gwyther, Editor of Management Today.

"Autonomy has grown from two men in an office to become the largest and most admired software company in the UK in less than thirteen years," said Dr Mike Lynch, Founder and CEO of Autonomy. "Our incredible success has been made possible thanks to the passion and dedication of Autonomy employees and the support of the City of London fund managers and analysts that have backed the company and enabled it to be where it is now."
