AUTONOMY POWERS NATO INFORMATION PORTAL

Cambridge, UK and SAN FRANCISCO - July 21, 2009 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has selected Autonomy's meaning-based technology to power its internal information portal. More than 300 experts are using on a daily basis Autonomy's technology to access, retrieve, process and analyze open source information from different news agencies and websites. This number is likely to grow.

"NATO's fundamental role is to safeguard the freedom and security of the member countries. To secure these goals, we need the best available solutions to index all the external content coming from several repositories and make that information easily available to our experts," said Bernard Frala, System Manager in NATO. "Selecting Autonomy to power our internal information portal was easy; its unique meaning-based technology is in a class of its own."

Autonomy's core software infrastructure product, the Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL), was selected for its unique ability to form an understanding from unstructured information and identify patterns between disparate pieces of information. IDOL's language independence played a decisive role in the selection process as NATO professionals need to keep abreast of new developments and breaking stories across the world. Features such as Categorisation, Clustering, and Hyperlinking enable NATO experts to keep their finger at the pulse of information automatically and in real-time.

"Several national security institutions have been using our technology for many years with great success," commented Victor Cohen, Regional Manager, Autonomy Northern Europe. "We are delighted that NATO has selected Autonomy's Meaning Based Computing technology to power its internal information portal."
