Osborne Clarke Powers Knowledge Management with Interwoven Universal Search
Leading European Law Firm Dramatically Improves Efficiency by Unifying Internal and External Information Sources
San Jose, Calif. - November 17, 2008 - Interwoven(NASDAQ: IWOV), a global leader in content management solutions, today announced that Osborne Clarke, a leading European law firm, has implemented Interwoven Universal Search - Professional Services Edition.
The solution unifies information sources throughout the firm, including the Interwoven WorkSite document and e-mail management systems, repositories like Sweet & Maxwell and Lexis-Nexis within an intuitive, easy-to-navigate Web interface. This unified approach to information management is core to improving business efficiency.
"Knowledge is the life's blood of every law firm," said Chris Bull, chief operating officer at Osborne Clarke. "We've made significant investments each year in subscribing to external information sources and maintaining internal ones, only to see these resources underutilized because of the repetitive processes each one demanded of our lawyers. Beyond its direct return on investment in helping our lawyers work more quickly and efficiently, Interwoven Universal Search helps us capture more of the benefit of these previous investments. It has had a tremendous impact on our lawyers' ability to drive better business results."
Rapid Deployment
With the help of Interwoven partner Phoenix Business Solutions, Osborne Clarke completed its implementation of Universal Search in only three months. The solution now provides the foundation for Osborne Clarke's knowledge management platform. Integrated with the firm's intranet, the solution provides robust enterprise search within the same environment used for inter-office collaboration as well as tasks such as filing expense reports and looking up directory information.
"The value of a law firm's knowledge resources depends entirely on the ability of its lawyers to search, access, and leverage the firm's past work product," said Chris Junker, vice president and general manager, professional services industry solutions at Interwoven. "Being forced to search each source individually using one-size-fits-all solutions only leads to frustration. Interwoven Universal Search makes it simple for lawyers at firms like Osborne Clarke to draw on matter content, best practices, firm guidelines, and external databases in the flow of their daily work."
With both Interwoven WorkSite and Universal Search playing central roles for its lawyers, Osborne Clarke continues to extend its strategic use of Interwoven technology. The firm plans to deepen the system's integration to enterprise information sources such as CRM and knowledge management systems. Meanwhile, ongoing feedback from lawyers and knowledge workers help the firm continually refine its relevancy factors to enhance relevance and user satisfaction.
