LEADING SPANISH HEALTH SERVICE PROVIDER SELECTS AUTONOMY FOR INNOVATION IN HEALTHCARE

Servicio Navarro de Salud to Use Pan-Enterprise Search Platform to Identify and Analyze Medical Trends

Cambridge, UK and San Francisco, Calif. - November 6, 2008 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise today announced that Servicio Navarro de Salud (Osasunbidea), Spain's most innovative health service provider, has selected Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) to process, locate and identify trends within millions of medical records from hospitals and patients throughout the Navarra region. In a project pioneered by Autonomy and long-standing Autonomy partner Biko, IDOL will enable Osasunbidea to improve its healthcare services through a better understanding of patients' illnesses, the impact of local conditions, and the latest developments in treatment practices and clinical trials.

In the first stage of the deployment, Autonomy's award-winning Pan-Enterprise Search platform will help Osasunbidea to quickly and accurately manage and access millions of stored medical records, improving the health service provider's efficiency whilst allowing medical professionals to research, investigate and analyse medical histories and trends. Through IDOL functionality such as Conceptual Search, Entity Extraction and Hyperlinking, information and its related data will be found more easily, whilst IDOL's advanced security features will ensure patient privacy is respected.

With Autonomy's Eduction functionality, Osasunbidea will ensure that it complies with Spain's Personal Data Protection policies. References to sensitive information, such as patients' personal details, can be automatically detected and removed. New versions are then generated, hyperlinked to other records and safely shared among the medical professionals.

The second stage of the deployment will employ Autonomy's advanced functionality, such as Clustering technology, to analyse and visualize medical research results. Osasunbidea will cluster its research reports and findings for comparison and contrast over time. This will allow Osasunbidea to visualize, monitor and alert on unpredictable medical occurrences such as heat weaves or epidemics, as well as on standard information such as births and regular illnesses. Osasunbidea can also compare these trends year-over-year to spot tendencies and analyse patterns. Additionally, as part of this ground-breaking project, Osasunbidea will cluster emergency reports to analyse and compare yearly heat wave impacts and recurrent viruses on the Navarra population.

"While currently most investigative questions are resolved by examining what has happened, we will be using Autonomy to know what is happening or predict what might happen in the future," commented Luis Larraya Galarza, Director del Complejo Médico Tecnológico de Navarra at Osasunbidea. "This means that we will have the latest medical information readily available. Autonomy IDOL will help us deliver the best medical service to our patients."

"It is always great to see Autonomy's technology used in new, pioneering ways," said Mike Lynch, CEO of Autonomy. "This is a very exciting project which demonstrates Navarra's reputation within Spain for innovation and is at the forefront of medical research."
