Interwoven Unveils Enhanced Composite Application Provisioning Solution

Interwoven Delivers Improved Business Agility with Industry's Only Automated Web Deployment Tool

SAN JOSE, Calif., - November 3, 2008 - Interwoven, Inc. (NASDAQ: IWOV), a global leader in content management solutions, today announced significant updates to its Composite Application Provisioning (CAP) Solution. CAP is the industry's only offering focused on automating and standardizing the way code, content and configuration changes are aggregated and deployed to custom Web or composite applications. CAP automation is ideal for customers looking to improve efficiency and decrease costs by delivering Website changes up to 10 times faster and reducing IT (information technology) costs by an average of 40 percent when compared to current manual release processes. The latest version of CAP delivers enhanced usability and additional automated code release capabilities.

Automation is ubiquitous in most IT departments with tools for provisioning software patches, updates, and operating systems to new servers. Even though developers often have automation tools for creating and updating code, many Web teams still manually copy and move changes. Interwoven CAP automates release management, while also giving IT departments a full audit trail, graphical reporting, scheduled workflow, deployment and rollback, whole application versioning and transactional capabilities.

"There clearly was a pent-up demand for Web application automation within IT departments, evidenced by the fact that in just a short time we've seen dozens and dozens of customers embracing CAP," said Annie Weinberger, director of product marketing for Web solutions at Interwoven. "CAP helps customers dramatically reduce the time required to deploy changes to their Website while also making businesses more agile and responsive to changing customer preferences. As Websites increasingly incorporate rich, composite applications, and IT departments need a stable and cost-effective way to deploy these applications rapidly, we're finding that CAP is becoming essential for our customers."

"We work with Fortune 500 companies that have Websites which sit at the core of their businesses," said Paul Neiswander, CMS subject matter expert for iCrossing, a global digital marketing company. "Often these Websites are populated from multiple sources of content and code and require teams of developers and IT managers to update and aggregate all the different information. Using Interwoven CAP is like giving a man who's riding a bike keys to a new Porsche."

New Features and Enhancements

Interwoven CAP is made up of two products: Interwoven ControlHub, which provides IT with a centralized console for managing application code for all custom application changes; and Interwoven OpenDeploy, an industry leading distribution engine that makes it simple to aggregate and securely distribute any type of code or content to any destination point in the network. This latest version of the CAP Solution decreases time-to-market by connecting siloed development and operations tools, while updated SCM adaptors streamline the change and release process. CAP also dramatically improves usability with an even more intuitive and customizable UI to provide point and click provisioning. Other new features and enhancements to CAP include:

ControlHub
ControlHub allows for easy management of the application release process with an intuitive IT console, graphical reporting, and out-of-the-box workflows. ControlHub 3.0.1 furthers the CAP solution with enhanced reporting, workflow, increased ease of use for IT and improved UI customization.

OpenDeploy
OpenDeploy connects the IT ecosystem with out of the box connectors into various development tools; including Microsoft-specific adaptors (COM+, .Net GAC, MSI, IIS, AppCenter) as well as out-of-the-box adaptors or connections to Microsoft Visual SourceSafe, IBM ClearCase, PVCS, MKS, CVS and StarTeam source code management. The enhanced OpenDeploy 6.2.1 adds two new adapters for integrating with additional source code management systems:

  • Subversion - Allows for automatic extraction of code from Subversion into ControlHub for provisioning to any testing, staging, production environment
  • Microsoft Team Foundation - Allows for automatic extraction of code from Microsoft Team Foundation Server into ControlHub for provisioning to any testing, staging, production environment
  • Interwoven Composite Application Provisioning (CAP) solution version 3.0.1 is generally available.
