FRANCE 24 SELECTS AUTONOMY TO ENHANCE VIDEO ARCHIVE

Pan-Enterprise Search and Rich Media Management Solution Selected for France's Leading Broadcast Channel

Cambridge, UK and San Francisco, Calif. - September 16, 2008 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that FRANCE 24, the leading French international news channel broadcast on a 24/7 basis, has selected Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) and Rich Media Management solution to manage and enhance its video archive. The archive currently has over 50,000 rich media files, consisting of the channel's daily broadcasts in French, Arabic and English, as well as other purchased programs, and is added to daily. With Autonomy's Meaning-based Computing technologies, the broadcaster will be able to automatically organize and categorize large volumes of multi-media content, eliminating the cost and time associated with the manual aggregation and meta-tagging of files.

FRANCE 24 selected Autonomy's fast, scalable and language independent technology to improve employees' efficiency and productivity, whilst ensuring that data assets are fully leveraged. The new system will assist the broadcaster's Document Specialists by automatically indexing content to make it more easily accessible on internal and external sites. FRANCE 24's journalists will also benefit from an improved user experience with increased speed and search relevancy on all file formats within the archive, including text, audio and video.

"Autonomy's state-of-the-art Meaning-Based Computing technology will ensure that our video archive is fully maximized, enabling our staff members to capitalize on our data assets, ultimately producing better quality programs for our viewers," commented Frederic Brochard, CIO at FRANCE 24.

Autonomy was selected by FRANCE 24 as the only technology able to offer advanced functionality to manage, as well as restore, their extensive video archive, including Conceptual & Keyword Retrieval, Summarization, Dynamic Hyperlinking, Dynamic Thesaurus, Virage VS Video Logger (with scene detection, OCR, speech recognition) and Virage VS Archive. Autonomy's Rich Media Management solution is the world's first technology to automatically capture, encode and index television, video and audio content from any source, dynamically. By automatically generating a comprehensive range of metadata, Autonomy's Virage products ensure that rich media is immediately fully searchable and accessible by any user.

"Autonomy has a large global media customer base with leading broadcasters and publishers relying on Autonomy to locate, access and keep up-to-date with the latest news around the world," said Mike Lynch, CEO of Autonomy. "I am delighted that Autonomy's technologies will be used by FRANCE 24 to improve its employees' productivity, and deliver better, higher quality programs to viewers."
