Interwoven Powers CPS Energy's Web Presence

Enterpulse Teams with Interwoven to Deliver a More Engaging and Targeted Customer Experience

SAN JOSE, Calif. - July 30, 2008 - The nation's largest municipally owned energy company providing both gas and electric service, CPS Energy provides affordable, reliable power to customers in San Antonio, Texas and surrounding areas. Operating in a regulated market, CPS Energy currently serves a customer base of 662,000 electric customers and more than 314,000 natural gas customers.

To address the needs of its growing community, CPS Energy embarked on a journey to revamp its Website in order to provide its customers better usability and self-service functionality. CPS Energy needed a better way to get critical news and service information to their residential customers, the primary users of the CPS Energy Website. The company also wanted to engage its commercial customers, developers, and builders by offering them richer, more targeted content.

To power its online transformation, CPS Energy selected Interwoven's TeamSite to improve its Website usability, expedite the publishing of content, and provide a more flexible user interface and information architecture to address both current and future needs. Prior to the Website overhaul, the CPS Energy Website contained dated material in a complicated architectural structure. CPS Energy worked with Enterpulse, an eight year Interwoven Platinum services partner specializing in portals and content management, to overhaul their Website. Once fully deployed, www.cpsenergy.com will be able to provide customers a more engaging experience. Residential and commercial customers will be able to quickly focus on up-to-date information targeted specifically to them. Developers and builders also have a segment of the Website focused on their specific needs. By implementing Interwoven, CPS Energy has moved one major step closer to their goal of accomplishing anything online that can be accomplished by walking into a service center - ensuring a consistent experience for their customers wherever and whenever they interact with CPS Energy.

"Integrating Interwoven's content management technologies into the redesign of our Website, brings us one step closer to our customers and helps us implement customer-oriented initiatives more quickly and responsively," said Christopher Barron, chief information officer at CPS Energy.

By using Interwoven‘s TeamSite, CPS Energy communications stakeholders are empowered to keep the Website current, minimizing the involvement of their IT teams. Interwoven provides marketers with more self-service control of their content, reducing the cycle time required to update content online, and delivering a superior customer experience. Additionally, a distributed content publishing workflow has been established that enables CPS Energy to publish more valuable, relevant, timely, and well structured content to their Website quickly.

"By utilizing our Fastrack requirements methodology up front, we were able to ensure the smooth deployment of the software to suit the client's needs. We thoroughly enjoyed working with the team at CPS Energy," stated Kendra Leffingwell, EVP, Sales & Marketing of Enterpulse.

CPS Energy selected Interwoven TeamSite due to its success with Interwoven WorkSite, Interwoven's collaborative document management product. CPS Energy worked with BCS Systems to deploy Interwoven WorkSite enterprise-wide including Accounts Payable, IT, Legal, Purchasing, Retail Marketing, Engineering, and Corporate Communications departments. WorkSite enables these departments to manage all contracts, correspondence, e-mails, meeting notes, and other content in one centralized repository, for easy access from any location. In the future, CPS Energy plans to work with Enterpulse and BCS Systems to integrate Interwoven WorkSite with Interwoven TeamSite in order to fully leverage all internal assets.

"We are pleased CPS Energy once again has selected Interwoven - this time to power their online presence," said Seth Rosenblatt, vice president of product marketing at Interwoven. "Our Web solutions provide marketers with the power to continually enhance their Web presence and address customer needs in the face of changing market conditions."
