AUTONOMY PROVIDES INFRASTRUCTURE FOR MAJORITY OF DATA LOSS PREVENTION MARKET LEADERS

Eight Leading DLP Vendors Use Autonomy for Enhanced Analytical Capabilities

Cambridge, UK and San Francisco, CA. - July 1, 2008 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operation Layer (IDOL) technology is licensed by the majority of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) market leaders to provide enhanced analytical capabilities for content inspection capabilities. Content inspection technologies are used to prevent leaks of sensitive data in the enterprise, such as information protected by industry regulations, human resources data, or confidential business documents.

According to Gartner, "DLP is emerging as an important information security control, with capabilities beyond those traditionally affiliated with monitoring. DLP assists management to identify and correct faulty business processes, identify and prevent accidental disclosures of sensitive data, and provide a mechanism for supporting compliance and audit activities. As such, many DLP tools offer hooks into identity and access management, document management, archiving systems and other content-rich sources, which will help to create a new market segment that addresses the requirements of compliance auditing." 1

Autonomy's IDOL technology is licensed by key vendors in the Content Monitoring and Filtering and DLP market, including Palisade Systems, Proofpoint, Trend Micro, Verdasys and Vericept. These vendors' technologies restrict access and use, as defined by policy, of sensitive information. According to a leading independent analyst firm, Autonomy IDOL provides a framework for consistent policy definition across these offerings.

"Information governance is rapidly becoming top of mind for the CIO and compliance officers," said Mike Lynch, CEO of Autonomy. "Enforcing policies for the use and distribution of confidential enterprise information is becoming a key initiative in the organization, and our partners recognize that the functionality in the IDOL platform to support this provides an accelerated time to market and clear competitive advantage."
