Grant Thornton LLP Manages Risk and Enhances Firm Productivity with Interwoven

Sixth Largest US Accounting Firm Implements Interwoven WorkSite to Support Comprehensive Content Management Strategy

SAN JOSE, Calif., - December 10, 2007 - For Grant Thornton LLP, quality service and risk management is a top priority. Like its peers, handling of client content is a key concern for the firm - given the requirements that confront global accounting, tax, and business advisory organizations. In addition, well organized and readily accessible client records and files can reduce the cost of discovery in the event of litigation. Meanwhile, to maintain its competitive edge Grant Thornton aims to provide its professionals with the tools required to enable the best possible service in a cost-effective manner.

To address these challenges, Grant Thornton LLP has chosen Interwoven WorkSite to support a content management strategy to manage risk, increase productivity, and facilitate information sharing among its professionals, clients, and partners.

Following a highly successful 150-user pilot project, WorkSite is being implemented firm-wide to provide Grant Thornton LLP's professionals with simple-to-use document management and collaboration capabilities. The system will help the firm comply with regulations regarding the management, archiving, retention, and disposal of client content, as well as reduce the costs associated with discovery, which can be especially high in the case of electronic content. "Interwoven WorkSite gives our firm an immediate solution for managing the risk associated with highly regulated content," said Shawn Ivey, director of applications development and management at Grant Thornton LLP. "In the long term, the system's completeness and flexibility will provide a solid foundation for content management initiatives to enhance the productivity of our professionals and provide the best possible service to our clients."

Grant Thornton LLP's selection of the Interwoven solution was based in part on WorkSite's ability to address the specific needs of professional services organizations. Ivey added, "We wanted a vendor who understood the unique work practices and content of a firm like ours. WorkSite obviously grew up within a professional services context, and its tailored functionality is more intuitive and compelling for our professionals than the other solutions on the market." Ivey also cited the solution's advantages from a change management perspective, with features like Microsoft Outlook integration that will enable seamless adoption without disrupting existing work practices.

"Interwoven's momentum continues in the accounting industry, and our commitment remains as deep today as ever," said Chris Junker, vice president and general manager, professional services industry solutions at Interwoven. "Grant Thornton LLP's selection of Interwoven WorkSite will give it industry-leading capabilities for risk management, enable its professionals to deliver superior service to its clients, and position the firm to benefit from a broad range of content management initiatives moving forward."

Beyond its initial risk-related projects, elements of Grant Thornton LLP's content management strategy include enhancing information sharing among its professionals, partners, and clients; enabling more efficient collaboration across locations and organizations; and integrating physical records into the same centralized management environment as electronic content. Said Ivey, "There is tremendous business value associated with the content management initiatives now being planned, and we look forward to working with Interwoven to realize their full potential."
