AUTONOMY TO ENHANCE KNOWLEDGE NETWORK PORTAL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND PROMOTION OF ITALY'S AGRI-FOOD INDUSTRY

Cambridge, UK and San Francisco, Calif. - October 31, 2007 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that the Societa' Parmense per gli Insediamenti Produttivi SpA (SPIP), has selected Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) as the software infrastructure for the PARMa (Parma Agrifood Research Management) Knowledge Network project (PKN), a global network of leading professionals from academia, industry and the public sector. Funded by the City of Parma and other corporate and public stakeholders, its main aim is to build value for society through the development of cutting-edge research, educational and service activities in the food and agribusiness management area.

SPIP, a not-for-profit company that manages the development of industrial areas within Italy's Parma region, needed a reliable information access solution to automatically aggregate and easily retrieve more than five million documents in Italian and English, from both internal repositories and the web. SPIP will leverage Autonomy's Meaning-based Computing functionalities including Agents, Automatic Query Guidance, Categorisation, Clustering, Hyperlinking, Conceptual Retrieval and Summarisation, to power PKN's "Agri-food portal", enabling collaboration and expertise sharing among researchers, universities and food companies alike, throughout the entire food sector.

"We needed a comprehensive technological solution that could leverage a vast amount of data, and bring the necessary relevant information to our users," commented Pietro Gandolfi, managing director of SPIP. "Only Autonomy can provide that high level of efficiency and reliability whilst allowing us access to advanced functionality."

"We are pleased to be part of a project that promotes and encourages the development of Italy's agri-food industry, connecting organizations to each other and information that is critical to their mission," said Mike Lynch, CEO of Autonomy. "Autonomy's Meaning-based Computing technology has helped hundreds of private and public organizations around the world to effectively improve their business efficiency and productivity."
