Interwoven Introduces Enhanced Solution to Help Businesses Dramatically Speed Time-to-Web

Interwoven Composite Application Provisioning Standardizes Change and Release Management for Custom Web Applications

GearUp 2007, London, UK, - October 16, 2007 - Interwoven, Inc. (NASDAQ: IWOV), a global leader in content management solutions, today announced an enhanced version of the Interwoven Composite Application Provisioning (CAP) solution. The Interwoven CAP solution allows businesses to automate and standardize the deployment of custom Web applications, resulting in dramatically improved efficiency and time-to-market. The new version, Interwoven CAP version 3.0, provides enhanced end-to-end automation, graphical reporting, and a more intuitive user interface.

As the volume of custom Web applications continues to increase exponentially, the ability to automate the delivery of code, content, and configuration is now an IT imperative. Websites are no longer out-of-the-box static applications – they are made up of different components developed in separate areas within an organization. Composite or custom Web applications – such as banking applications, healthcare portals and online retail applications – are developed using standardized tools, but the deployment of these applications is generally handled by manual, ad hoc processes.

Results from a recent global survey of IT professionals conducted by Interwoven confirm that businesses are struggling to cope with the growing reliance on custom Web applications. While over half of the respondents will at least double the number of custom Web applications in the next year, 73 percent can only do one to two releases per month. To learn more about the survey results, read the press release entitled "Survey Exposes IT's Looming Challenge" at http://www.interwoven.com/capsurvey.

"Composite applications present new opportunities for organizations to increase business agility," said Kathy Quirk, analyst at IDC. "When deployed on a Website these applications are subject to frequent changes to refine usability, adapt to a new business process, or connect to a new data source. Orchestrating these changes requires a comprehensive approach to aggregate all the code and content elements and a repeatable process to streamline release cycles."

Leveraging its deep domain expertise in helping organizations move their business to the Web, Interwoven has pioneered the automation and standardization of composite application provisioning. Interwoven has worked with over 1000 customers to deliver a solution that bridges the gap between business and IT. Companies using the Interwoven CAP solution have reduced provisioning costs by an average of forty percent, eliminated errors, and delivered applications to market up to 10 times faster than before.

Customers Catch CAP Fever
Over a dozen Interwoven customers worldwide have tested CAP 3.0, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Following are some of the comments from customers:

"At Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts we always put our members' health first. As an Interwoven customer since 2001 we have relied on Interwoven and the CAP solution to help manage the deployment of our healthcare portals, so that we can provide our members with timely and relevant information," said Mark Farone, director, Web enterprise services at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. "The Interwoven CAP solution has helped us reduce the overall cost of deployment, deliver an auditable, historical snapshot of all application changes, and maintain the accuracy of each new release across our complex Web environment. With the release of Interwoven CAP 3.0, we are most excited about the end-to-end automation, which will enable us to schedule workflows as well as deployments, further streamlining and accelerating our change and release process."

Tesco, another long-time Interwoven customer, has also expanded their Interwoven Web Content Management deployment with the addition of the Interwoven CAP solution.

"As the first and largest online grocer in the UK, Tesco is focused on being first-to-market on the Web," said Francesco Bruno, CMS infrastructure manager at Tesco. "And even though we had made a major investment in our Web presence, we were still having difficulty keeping up with the growing number of changes. We selected the Interwoven CAP solution because Interwoven understands the unique challenges of the Web and has developed a rock solid solution to solve our Web deployment challenges."

"Based on our heritage in helping businesses move to the Web, we have always focused on providing our customers with the solutions they need to manage their entire Web presence, and the Interwoven CAP solution is a natural extension of this strategy," said Paige Mantel, vice president of product marketing, at Interwoven. "The Interwoven CAP solution provides IT with the tools they need to move at the speed of the Web and help companies increase their competitive advantage and reach new opportunities, markets, and customers."

Interwoven CAP Solution 3.0 – More Control, More Automation, Simplified Management
Interwoven CAP 3.0 provides several new capabilities, including end-to-end project automation, new graphical reporting, and a more intuitive user interface.

End-to-end automation:

  • No-touch deployment capabilities needed for nimble Web environments (transactional, fan-out, multi-tiered, scheduled and automated, rollback, etc).
  • Scheduled workflow tasks, managed and monitored through a graphical workflow modeler, makes the change and release process completely automated.

Graphical reporting - Graphical reports can be used to provide a visual representation of statistical data associated with applications. Graphical reports include:

  • Success vs. failed deployments
  • Workflow and deployment throughput
  • Average duration of jobs and deployments

Intuitive User Interface - An application-centric user interface provides central administration for all applications, projects, and Website change and release jobs and tasks.
