AUTONOMY DELIVERS THE IDOL BUSINESS CONSOLE FOR SIMPLIFIED ADMINISTRATION ACROSS COMPLEX, DISTRIBUTED IT ENVIRONMENTS

First and Only Solution That Grants Business Users Control Over Their Information Systems through an Intuitive Interface

Cambridge, UK and San Francisco, CA. - October 16, 2007 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced the availability of the Autonomy Business Console, an intuitive and easy-to-use business user application built on the company's award-winning Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) platform. The Autonomy Business Console brings the power of IDOL's Meaning-based Computing functions and services directly under the control of business users through a clear and logical GUI, simplifying the management of previously complex IT systems. IDOL is a single platform for understanding information and automating operations on all types of information, regardless of where or what it is.

Autonomy acknowledges that many of today's business users are responsible for handling a variety of unique role-specific knowledge and data management tasks, such as creating and managing taxonomies, enforcing and auditing corporate policies, and conducting both trend and industry analysis. By providing knowledge officers, corporate librarians, compliance officers and marketing executives with a simple graphical interface for managing IDOL services, users are empowered to react, adjust and fine tune their role-based application in real-time, without the need for sophisticated coding or programming. Autonomy is the first and only to provide a solution that allows business users this level of granular control over their information systems.

Autonomy is committed to delivering many more interfaces supporting this unique class of "super user" to meet changing demands. The Autonomy Business Console enables users to visualize and analyze their data far more rapidly than those that must sort through logs and utilize third-party software to recognize trends, promote new products, fine tune system parameters with clunky command line interfaces or application changes, or rely on manual and single-threaded approaches to update corporate taxonomies. This ability to react quickly translates into significant and immediate return from both operational efficiencies and increased revenue streams.

“Organizations require infrastructure software that is easy enough to manage on an on-going basis and powerful enough to accommodate complex information challenges, yet few infrastructure software products meet these important requirements," said Mike Lynch CEO of Autonomy. "The Business Console was designed to empower the business users whose domain expertise is required to configure solutions to a company's exact business requirements."

By configuring applications through the Business Console, IT administrators and managers can react quickly to changing usage patterns and provide highly targeted results to end-users without any programming. Administrators can better manage their site's look and feel, deploy a component such as an advanced search box or visualize and manage user navigation paths, ensuring optimal system performance and user satisfaction, even as the volume and range of content grows.

The Business Console features:

Full support for business modulated result 'sponsoring' or 'placement',
Simplified control over the Autonomy Collaborative Classifier, which enables librarians to collaboratively build and centrally manage taxonomies,
Synonym management that allows users to specify, expand or narrow synonym rings directly from the Business Console,
The ability to create, modify and preview the content of a parametric index,
A taxonomy management module to create, view, edit and test the classification of information into categories for more efficient browsing.
