California State Agencies Rely On Interwoven Solutions to Provide Superior Service and Accountability to Citizens

Interwoven Solutions Help Government Agencies Save Time and Resources

GOVERNMENT TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE WEST, Sacramento, Calif., - May 16, 2007 - Interwoven, Inc. (NASDAQ: IWOV), a global leader in content management solutions, today announced that three additional California state agencies are using Interwoven solutions to address citizen demand for better service and accountability, automate paper to digital processes, and increase productivity.

Citizen demand for improved service and accountability is putting intense pressure on government agencies to operate on a performance-driven basis, and to demonstrate the value they provide to the public. As a result, government agencies are actively seeking innovative technologies to make government more convenient and efficient. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, California Department of Transportation, and California Energy Commission are three such agencies using Interwoven's solutions in innovative ways to leverage the power of content to improve service and accountability.

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Deploys Interwoven for Increased Accountability of Discharged Offenders
To respond to storage space capacity issues and expanding workload, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), needed a secure technology solution to address tracking, filing, searching, storing and access to discharged offender records. CDCR, a national leader in providing victim and survivor services, selected Interwoven WorkSite MP®, an award-winning collaborative document management solution as the foundation component of the Discharged Offender Record Management System (DORMS).

Once an offender is released from the CDCR system, the Department is required to keep voluminous institution records for 10 years. Called archived offender records, these are currently kept in various forms from paper to microfiche and are literally overflowing the storage space available for them at the Department's archived records warehouse locations.

Though the records are stored away, they are frequently requested and accessed. Hundreds of requests for archived records arrive weekly from District Attorneys, CDCR reception centers, and former offenders. Usually the request for archived records is made because the person has re-offended and has been sent back to the Department's Adult Institutions. Currently, the Department expends weeks of work effort to satisfy a request for an offender's archived records. The work to track and retrieve the files has grown exponentially over the years; due to both rising institution population and increased paperwork per offender. Managing documents associated with an offender file was challenging due to the myriad of file types from fingerprints, to photographic images, to personal letters and medical records.

"In the past, when external agencies requested discharged offender files, we often had to rifle through several boxes to retrieve the right records, which was frustrating and time consuming," said Joe Panora, chief information officer, at California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. "Interwoven will dramatically change the way we manage our discharged offender records program and simplify what was once a burdensome process. With Interwoven, DORMS will help our organization maintain better real-time accountability of our inmates after they are released."

With the help from Interwoven partner, Paperless Solutions, CDCR has already scanned over 1 million discharged offender records (of an estimated 10 million) and is uploading these documents into the Interwoven WorkSite system. WorkSite will improve the access, security, and usability of all discharged offender documents by transforming thousands of boxes of paper files and microfiche documents into electronically secured and searchable files.

California Energy Commission Continues to Drive Improved Information Sharing with Interwoven
The California Energy Commission (CEC) is the state's primary energy policy and planning agency and is a long time Interwoven TeamSite user. CEC leverages TeamSite®, the industry's most advanced content management platform for the enterprise, to empower business users to manage their own content.

"Over the years TeamSite has helped us achieve our Intranet's initial goals of improving internal communications and sharing of information within the organization as well as providing one portal into administrative systems," said Steve Bonta, intranet project manager at the California Energy Commission and president of Interwoven's Sacramento User Group. "TeamSite's decentralized publishing model lets staff quickly control their content which allows us in IT to focus on other technology efforts for them."

California Department of Transportation to Deploy Interwoven to Streamline Feasibility Study Report Process
The California Department of Transportation (CalTrans), manages more than 45,000 miles of California's highway and freeway lanes, provides inter-city rail services, permits more than 400 public-use airports and special-use hospital heliports, and works with local agencies. CalTrans selected Interwoven's WorkSite to manage and track IT feasibility study reports and the Directors Office Correspondence Review initiatives. CalTrans has chosen Interwoven WorkRoute to map, automate, and ensure consistent execution of business activities such as approving contracts, scanning and imaging paper documents, and tracking issues.

Interwoven: A Leader in Content Management for Government
Interwoven is a leading provider of content management solutions for government institutions. Many federal, state, local, and international government agencies have turned to Interwoven as their content management solution of choice, some include: California Franchise Tax Board, California Department of Health Services, California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS), Government of Canada, Miami Dade County, New York State Department of Tax and Finance, State of Mississippi, State of Texas, Texas Employee Retirement System, Travis County (Texas) Attorney's Office, and University of Texas Systems.

Highlighting its commitment to continued technology innovation for government agencies, Interwoven Records Manager recently received U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) 5015.2 certification. The certification verifies that Interwoven Records Manager, a solution that manages both physical and electronic records in a unified environment, complies with the DoD 5015.2 standard. This standard defines the requirements that must be met by records management application products used by the DoD and other government agencies based on operational, legislative, and legal needs.
