AUTONOMY DELIVERS PROACTIVE LEGAL PROTECTION WITH IDOL ECHO

New Module Enables Fully Auditable Forensic Information Monitoring To Help Organizations Maintain Information Integrity and Compliance

Cambridge, UK and San Francisco, Calif. - May 14, 2007 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced the immediate availability of IDOL ECHO, a ground-breaking new module that allows global organizations to forensically account, track and trace the lifecycle of every single piece of data within an organization. This includes telephone calls, voicemails, emails, instant messages, documents and videos. Based on Autonomy's pan-enterprise platform, the Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) and leveraging Autonomy's Meaning Based Computing technology, ECHO is a key development in helping organizations proactively protect the integrity of their data and employees in an increasingly regulated environment.

With the recent changes in the U.S. Federal Rules of Civil Procedure which mandate that, in the event of litigation, the defendant must produce all accessible electronic information within 99 days of the request, enterprises cannot afford to lose control of their information. Autonomy's IDOL ECHO delivers fully auditable and accountable monitoring of information use to global enterprises. With its ability to conceptually understand both structured and unstructured data, IDOL ECHO can quickly and accurately audit the entire information lifecycle from creation to deletion.

"Enterprises want to access, manage and organize varieties of content and data in a way that is transparent and easily understandable by users, IT staff and legal personnel. In addition, there can be consequences from failing to preserve electronic documents," said Gartner in its recent report entitled, "Dataquest Insight: Emerging E-Discovery Market Spurs New Content and Records Management Investments".* Gartner also stated that "spending on electronic discovery software technologies and services is forecast to grow at more than 30% annually through 2010. Legal discovery will increasingly become a key driver for content and records management technologies and policies."

IDOL ECHO can follow a traffic pattern of data, such as the path of an email attachment or voice mail. For example, companies can track who has read, heard, forwarded and retained a message. It will also detect the influence of its content, including who within the enterprise has taken, re-purposed, been persuaded or even plagiarized what he/she has heard or seen. IDOL ECHO can also trace information as it jumps from mail to phone conversation to document. For example, person A receives a call from person B who then relays it out of ear shot in the parking lot to person C who then instant message these ideas to person D. ECHO can then be asked "who has heard this?" In addition, ECHO can report where an author lacks influence or how a community has behaved.

With IDOL ECHO, it is now possible to protect against the breaching of 'Chinese walls' not on the basis of crude electronic permissions but on the human flow of ideas that are very difficult to track and regulate. The influence of individuals or programs can be measured across electronic boundaries. The repetition of confidences or the evolution of a concept can be detected, stopped or encouraged in real-time.

"Enterprises are at the center of two converging forces right now - the continued growth of unstructured information and more and more demands to understand the information they hold in order to meet regulatory requirements and gain faster, more accurate business insight," commented Dr. Mike Lynch, CEO and founder, Autonomy. "Enterprises today need to take a proactive approach to addressing these challenges. With this latest addition to the IDOL platform, enterprises now have an effective tool to help them do this. This again demonstrates the power of applying meaning based approaches to information management across the organization."
