Frost Brown Todd Optimizes Information Management Operations with Interwoven Records Manager

Leading Law Firm Brings Together Paper, Electronic, and E-mail Documents Under a Uniform Information Retention Policy

SUNNYVALE, Calif., - May 8, 2007 - Interwoven, Inc. (NASDAQ: IWOV), a global leader in content management solutions, today announced that Frost Brown Todd LLC, an AMLAW 200 law firm, has adopted Interwoven Records Manager to enable comprehensive information management.

Combined with Interwoven WorkSite, the industry-leading document management solution, Interwoven Records Manager enables law firms to optimize their file room operations and bring together paper and electronic documents and e-mail under a uniform information retention policy. The solution is seamlessly integrated into the user's working practices, allowing professionals to participate and engage in the records process without sacrificing productivity. Frost Brown Todd (FBT) was formed through the 2000 merger of two premier regional law firms, a union that brought consistent rankings in The National Law Journal's NLJ 250 and the AmLaw 200 - as well as introducing new information management challenges. In 2005, with its user population reaching 900 attorneys, paralegals, and staff, the firm grew concerned about its ability to effectively manage the documents in its possession.

"Post merger our records management challenges were steep. We were reliant on a series of index cards, access databases and outside vendor databases for finding information. Our file rooms were spread across multiple offices and floors, which made it very challenging to track our files. Each site was handling records differently. Our need for space and better organization led us to search for a long term solution for managing both paper and electronic records," said Paul Bromwell, CIO at Frost Brown Todd.

To facilitate regulatory compliance, expedite discovery, and protect the interests of its clients, the firm needed to bring together all of its records firm-wide - including large volumes of electronic documents and e-mails - within a single integrated environment, under a uniform retention policy. This was part of a larger effort within FBT to bring both document management and records management into a modern matter-centric environment.

Having used Interwoven WorkSite since 2000, FBT did not have far to look for the ideal records management solution. Designed to work independently or alongside WorkSite, Interwoven Records Manager provides comprehensive information management within the same breakthrough matter-centric environment that has made WorkSite the de facto industry standard for legal technology. The Interwoven Records Management solution provides records managers and file clerks with the tools to set policy, apply holds, respond to discovery requests, create and manage file plans, and manage file rooms efficiently. Fee-earners can implicitly declare records at the time of creation with simple business rules, and can find, access, and request all records - paper or electronic - directly from the desktop, e-mail application, or a browser.

The Interwoven Records Manager rules engine enabled FBT to accommodate the unique retention requirements of its numerous practice areas. Also, tools for managing electronic content from active to archive repositories helped FBT reduce the firm's offsite storage costs.

Interwoven Records Manager is now helping FBT realize its goal of end-to-end information management. Now, the firm's professionals can participate easily in the records process, as all records will now be declared using WorkSite. All electronic records - documents and e-mail - will be merged into a single client file, enabling the firm to treat all records equally under a uniform retention policy as part of a formal, comprehensive compliance program.

"The combination of Interwoven WorkSite and Interwoven Records Manager will finally give us the information management capabilities we need to treat all documents - physical, electronic, and email - the same way and with a uniform retention policy," said Bromwell.

"Firms are increasingly focused on deploying an information management framework that meets multiple goals: compliance, improved client service, increased productivity, and business continuity without burdening the user with more applications to learn or more clicks," said Neil Araujo, vice president of professional services industry solutions at Interwoven. "Interwoven Records Manager is a very important component of this framework as it enables firms to deploy a proven, feature-rich application for complete cradle-to-grave information management, and deal effectively with the records management challenges posed by today's complex content environments and regulatory requirements."
