AUTONOMY WINS MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT FROM UK MINISTRY OF DEFENCE

Cambridge, UK and San Francisco, Calif. - 1st May 2007 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that it has entered into a multi-million dollar contract with the U.K. Ministry of Defence (MOD). Under the terms of the deal, Autonomy will provide its Intelligent Data Operating Layer Server (IDOL) to support the MOD's new single information infrastructure. In addition to supporting Joint Operations, this new infrastructure is of critical importance in supporting the MOD's objective of making information immediately available to those who need it.

Autonomy's IDOL Server will allow the U.K. MOD an unprecedented level of access to the wealth of its unstructured information by automating critical processes and tasks traditionally performed manually.

The system is expected to be available to more than 400,000 people internally, and will have the capability to accept an unlimited number of users on the extranet. Furthermore, IDOL is capable of meeting the MOD's exacting scalability requirements through its unique modular, multi-threaded architecture that provides a high-performance, high-capacity and scalable platform for content exploitation.

Peter Menell, Autonomy's Chief Technology Officer commented: "This project will give the MOD a system capable of processing information not only in the form of text, but also in audio or video format. Powered by Autonomy, the U.K. MOD will have, for the first time, sophisticated analytics capabilities to allow it to make conceptual and contextual associations between disparate pieces of data instantly."

Autonomy has a long and distinguished history of collaboration with many of the world's leading government, defense and intelligence agencies, including: the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, NASA, the U.S. Air Force, the U.K. Audit Commission, the U.K. Department of Trade and Industry, the French Ministry of Defense, and the Irish Revenue Commissioners.
