Interwoven RecordsManager Receives U.S. Department of Defense 5015.2 Certification
Solution designed to address emerging records management challenges, now certified to meet stringent DoD requirements
SUNNYVALE, Calif. - March 28, 2007 - Interwoven, Inc. (NASDAQ: IWOV), a global leader in content management solutions, today announced that Interwoven RecordsManager has received U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) 5015.2 certification. The certification verifies that Interwoven RecordsManager, a solution that manages both physical and electronic records in a unified environment, complies with the DoD 5015.2 standard. This standard defines the requirements that must be met by records management application products used by the DoD and other government agencies based on operational, legislative, and legal needs.
The Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC), a division of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), awarded the certification of Interwoven RecordsManager on March 13, 2007. The 5015.2 standard is endorsed by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and is viewed as the benchmark for government and corporate organizations that manage classified records and documents.
Independent analyst firm Gartner Research, recommends that enterprises use the DoD 5015.2 standard as a key requirement when acquiring any records management product, along with consideration of local standards. The DOD 5015.2 standard is well-established, has a formal certification process and has become the de facto benchmark for records management products. "Achieving 5015.2 compliance for our records management solution is a significant milestone. With today's regulatory climate, organizations face significant challenges on how to address the incorporation of electronic and physical files, especially email, as part of their records policy," said Rafiq Mohammadi, chief technology officer at Interwoven. "User adoption across the organization is essential to achieving full compliance. Interwoven RecordsManager provides an easy to use solution for seamless policy management between documents, email and physical records."
The DoD 5015.2 standard is the widely accepted design criteria for electronic records management software applications. To receive the DoD certification, a product must comply with 147 rigorous mandatory requirements, provide the infrastructure for a corporate file plan that includes all forms of electronic and physical documents, and provide a retention plan that incorporates both time- and event-driven disposition instructions.
Interwoven RecordsManager
Interwoven RecordsManager provides a single integrated platform for managing the wide range of records challenges firms face today - including engaging users in the records process, discovery and litigation management, and compliance with numerous and changing regulations. The solution enables organizations to control records consistently and effectively across offices, media types and systems, reducing the cost of managing records and the risk of inconsistent records policies. Interwoven RecordsManager provides:
A comprehensive information lifecycle management solution across all media and content types. This provides a way for firms to manage each individual stage - including creation, management, archival and disposition or accession - thereby automating and streamlining the entire process.
Integration with email and document repositories that make it extremely easy for end-users to participate in the records management process.
A comprehensive set of litigation and discovery management capabilities which enable firms to quickly locate relevant information assets and apply litigation holds.
Ability to manage physical files at the warehouse, shelf, box, folder, sub-folder or document level, so records availability, location, and contents are known instantly.
