After opening the conference with a keynote address on innovation in the UK technology market, Dr Lynch was recognized for his achievements as one of the most innovative and successful figures in the industry. The award recognizes entrepreneurial instinct, coupled with the drive, determination and ability needed to create and build a successful business around them.
Dr Michael Lynch founded Autonomy in 1996 and rapidly established the company's reputation as one of the world's leading providers of infrastructure technology for the enterprise. Dr Lynch's vision was to dramatically change the way in which we interact with information and computers and as the market leader in unstructured data management and enterprise information retrieval, Autonomy is now spearheading the Meaning Based Computing movement.

December 2005 saw the $500 million acquisition of former competitor Verity in a deal that has confirmed Autonomy's position as market leader. 2006 saw record profits for Autonomy in what Dr. Lynch described as a transformational year, and the company now has a market cap of over $2.5 billion.
The ninth annual UK Technology Innovation and Growth Awards, took place on Tuesday 13th March. The awards recognise those individuals and organisations that drive the success of the UK's fastest growing technology companies. Over the last nine years, these awards have become one of the most coveted accolades within the industry.
