STATE OF MICHIGAN STANDARDIZES ON AUTONOMY CARDIFF TELEFORM AND LIQUIDOFFICE TO AUTOMATE BUSINESS PROCESSES
State Government Reduced Data Entry and Forms Processing Time; Significantly Enhancing its Service Quality for 10.1 Million Citizens
San Diego, Calif. - Mar. 5, 2007 - Cardiff, a division of Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L) and leading provider of intelligent document solutions, today announced that the State of Michigan (www.michigan.gov) has implemented its Intelligent Document solution, featuring the TeleForm and LiquidOffice products, as one of the standard electronic form applications for the State. With Cardiff, the State has realized significant benefits, including streamlining internal operational processes; accelerating delivery of data and documents to backend IT infrastructure; reducing administrative costs; and eliminating data entry errors.
As a government entity with approximately 55,000 employees across 20 departments and 10.1 million citizens, the State of Michigan manages thousands of internal and external manual processes daily. In order to increase efficiency, the State seeks to bring all of its corporate forms online and to automate its mission-critical business processes.
After thoroughly analyzing solutions that would bridge the gap between paper and digital processes, and following a competitive evaluation process, the State of Michigan selected Cardiff TeleForm to begin the migration. With this solution, the State can quickly and easily capture and convert paper-based forms, such as State income tax forms and home heating credit forms, into digital data in order to significantly improve its internal processes and provide efficient, timely service to its citizens.
"State government agencies are required to make state services accessible to all of its citizens," said Mike Shanahan, director, e-Michigan Web Development Division of the Michigan Department of Information Technology. "This requires that permit applications, tax forms and other citizen-facing applications be paper-based as well as electronic-based. We now have the ability to combine both paper-based and digital forms and documents, allowing us to integrate both processes seamlessly."
With the successful implementation of Cardiff TeleForm, the State of Michigan implemented Cardiff LiquidOffice, a paperless system that enables organizations to design, deploy and automatically manage the routing, tracking and approval processes of forms and documents. LiquidOffice also adds automated data validation, attachments and workflow capabilities to public- and citizen-facing HTML and PDF forms. These capabilities allow the State to support intelligent routing, tracking and secure digital approval over the Internet, allowing the process to be handled completely online. By adding LiquidOffice, the State can pass data from TeleForm to LiquidOffice. TeleForm manages the paper-based processes, and LiquidOffice automates the business processes of external-facing forms, such as the online income tax forms.
"The solutions have enabled us to greatly reduce the time we spend reviewing, searching for and tracking down the status of documents. The time it takes to submit, apply action and approve forms has also significantly improved," continued Shanahan.
"With over 10.1 million in population, the State of Michigan is experiencing dynamic growth, particularly in terms of the complexity of operational processes," said Mark Seamans, Cardiff's chief executive officer. "We are pleased that the Cardiff solutions enable the State government to effectively manage its business processes."
