CARDIFF UNVEILS NEXT-GENERATION INTELLIGENT DOCUMENT CLASSIFICATION SOLUTION FOR TELEFORM
System Leverages Autonomy's IDOL Platform to Automatically Classify and Organize Documents Based on Meaning and Concepts
San Diego, Calif. - Feb. 5, 2007 - Cardiff, a division of Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L) and leading provider of intelligent document solutions, today announced the availability of the TeleForm Intelligent Document Classification Module. This new module automates high-volume scanned document classification by leveraging the power of Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) to understand the meaning of the documents based on the concepts they contain. Moving beyond traditional document classification approaches, the TeleForm Intelligent Document Classification Module represents the next step in enabling the real-time classification of business documents and forms flowing through an organization in order to accelerate their processing as part of key business workflows.
"Cardiff has been a historic leader and innovator in the area of data collection and understanding," said Harvey Spencer, founder of industry analyst firm, HSA. "The approach being taken by Cardiff by leveraging Autonomy's market-leading IDOL technology to give meaning-based classification, is unique and represents the next generation of technologies to process information originating on paper and other unstructured transactional data."
"Traditional document classification systems require significant training and configuration as well as operator involvement during the production process," says Mark Seamans, Cardiff's CEO. "The TeleForm Intelligent Document Classification Module takes an approach that is much more advanced than traditional systems that are based on hand-coded rules or image comparison. TeleForm - powered by IDOL - actually gets better over time through the automatic application of feedback to fine tune its understanding of the concepts that distinguish one type of document from another."
Within industries such as financial services, insurance and healthcare, key elements of core business processes occur in the form of document 'packages'. These packages can contain a virtually unlimited range of both structured content - such as forms - and unstructured content, such as correspondence, doctors' notes, and copies of financial statements. The ability to automatically process these complex document sets in order to accelerate business processes and significantly reduce processing costs requires the ability to understand all of the contents of the package in order to gauge completeness as well as the processing path that should be followed. The TeleForm Intelligent Document Classification Module automates the document classification requirement and Cardiff's intelligent document platform then injects intelligence about the organization's business processes into the documents such that they are able to self-validate and automatically route themselves through the enterprise.
As part of the Cardiff Intelligent Document suite, the TeleForm Intelligent Document Classification Module works in tandem with other modules to automate all aspects of both paper-based and web-based document-centric business processes. The Cardiff system delivers significant cost reduction, accelerated processes and an improved customer experience by taking formerly static documents and enabling them to 'process themselves' through the introduction of embedded intelligence.
