AUTONOMY HELPS T-MOBILE TURN BROWSERS INTO BUYERS

Deploys Unique IDOL Solution To Power Multi-site E-commerce Application

Cambridge, UK and San Francisco, CA. - January 10th, 2007 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that T-Mobile, the multinational mobile phone operator and division of Deutsche Telekom, has chosen Autonomy's advanced enterprise infrastructure software to power its suite of e-commerce websites. Leveraging Autonomy's IDOL platform, T-Mobile will deliver highly relevant products and services directly to its site-users, based on the conceptual and contextual content of both their search queries and viewed content. By integrating with T-Mobile's content management system, the sites will automatically identify related products and services to help drive cross-selling across the T-Mobile portfolio.

"Using Autonomy's software one realizes that search is neither just a fancy feature at the top of an html page, nor a sophisticated but impenetrable 'black box'," commented Thomas Wies, eBusiness Analysis Expert at T-mobile. "A real search and retrieval solution focuses on the user's information need, surfaces the required information and empowers the process of consuming your goods and information."

An essential element of the new T-Mobile e-commerce application is Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) Server, a unique platform capable of processing all types of electronic and paper data within an organization - be it structured, unstructured or semi-structured.

IDOL's unique ability to derive a conceptual understanding of data, combined with its market-leading unstructured information management capabilities, will allow the T-Mobile site to offer its users effective Directed Navigation based on the meaning of their search enquiry. Searches on model numbers, handset brands or talk plan names will return highly targeted results, not just for what the user searched for, but also for products conceptually related to the original query, ensuring the buyer always receives the most pertinent products.

In addition to its powerful automation capabilities, IDOL also offers highly targeted fine-tuning through manual adjustment. If it becomes necessary to lead the customer to information which is not directly accessible through the automated algorithms, a simple rule can take over. For T-Mobile, such a combination of automation and manual adjustments have led to a best of breed solution. It combines the advanced conceptual abilities of IDOL with the extensions of a chatbot like solution.

Autonomy for e-Commerce applies automatic hyperlinking, a powerful feature that uses unique pattern-recognition technology to create automatic links between related products or pieces of information. This feature will help T-Mobile drive cross-selling of products, even when the buyer is not using the search function, by generating hyperlinks as products are viewed.

Autonomy's open standards approach allowed T-Mobile to adapt the solution exactly to its specific requirements and, since IDOL's powerful retrieval features were easily integrated into T-Mobile's existing online user interface, the company was able to launch a new Autonomy-supported T-Mobile.de website just six weeks after the conceptual work was completed.

"We are very pleased to have helped T-Mobile achieve their objective of maximizing the revenue generating opportunities of their online presence" says Dr Mike Lynch, Chief Executive Officer and founder of Autonomy. "Autonomy is unique in its ability to implicitly understand the potential buying desires of web-users. This is another example of how we are using meaning-based computing to generate real, measurable return on investment for our customers and partners."
