AUTONOMY AUTOMATES COMPLIANCE GUIDANCE AND ENFORCEMENT WITH AUNGATE

New Aungate Module Helps Companies Meet Regulatory Requirements and Employee Behavior Policies

Cambridge, UK and San Francisco, Calif. - Dec. 6, 2006 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced a world first in automating processes that guide employees to meet behavior policies and enforce compliance, with the introduction of the Aungate Compliance Guidance and Enforcement Module.

The new module performs real-time conceptual analyses of enterprise information repositories using Autonomy's renowned IDOL-based Implicit Query technology. These analyses are performed on any form of information - including email, instant messages (IM), documents and voice - in order to make granular assessments of whether a user is in danger of violating an external regulation or enterprise policy and a behavioral threshold is about to be reached. The new Aungate module will then automatically launch processes to guide the employee through correct procedures and, depending on enterprise requirements, dynamically point to relevant training material in real-time. Unique to Autonomy, this is a key development for organizations grappling to balance the value and/or risk of an ever-growing amount of unstructured data, while having to set and follow consistent policies and threshold levels to protect the integrity of the business.

Powered by the leading platform for processing unstructured information, Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL), and leveraging Cardiff's Intelligent Document technology, the new module performs a wide spectrum of key functions, including:

"This new module addresses a very real and acute problem faced by enterprises today - how to enable employees to access and distribute the data they need to work effectively, while protecting the company from regulatory risks. This issue goes beyond just email monitoring, however. Organizations require a comprehensive method of monitoring all types of information – be it email, IM, phone conversations or basic documents – and systems that understand the nuances and grey areas within that data, and assess how employees are using it in context so as to be able to make granular assessments of its potential risks in real-time," commented Ian Black, managing director, Aungate.
