LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE AWARDS AUTONOMY ACHIEVEMENT OF THE YEAR 2006 FOR SUCCESS OF VERITY ACQUISITION

Autonomy's $500 million acquisition of its biggest competitor declared a success by the investment community

Cambridge, UK and San Francisco, Calif. - Dec. 1, 2006 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that it has been awarded the Achievement of the Year Award 2006 at the techMARK Awards for the success of its acquisition of major competitor, Verity. The techMARK Awards, organized by the London Stock Exchange, are designed to reward outstanding achievement in the technology market. Sushovan Hussain, Autonomy CFO, collected the award last night during the ceremony held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London.

Autonomy announced its intention to purchase Verity, Inc., in November 2005 and completed the acquisition on the 29th December 2005. One year on, the ambitious deal has received widespread accolades from both customers and the investment community.

Mike Lynch, Autonomy CEO, commented: "This was a transformational acquisition for Autonomy. Bringing together two world-class companies and combining both the customer bases and the technology leadership has been a challenging but incredibly rewarding exercise. Internally we considered it a huge success very rapidly and we are delighted to now obtain such high-level third party acknowledgement."
