AUTONOMY EXTENDS LEADERSHIP IN EDISCOVERY WITH ENHANCED AUNGATE SOLUTIONS

Industry's Most Scalable Real-time eDiscovery and Monitoring Solutions Help Organizations Prepare For Forthcoming U.S. Federal Laws of Civil Procedure

Cambridge, UK and San Francisco, CA - Oct. 25, 2006 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced new releases of its Aungate Electronic Document Discovery (EDD) and Real-Time Monitoring solutions. Based on Autonomy's IDOL platform, these latest releases are the most scalable solutions available in the market today to help organizations reduce the costs and risks associated with information. In addition, these solutions will provide a significant advantage as organizations prepare for forthcoming eDiscovery legislation.

The significant rise in market demand for intelligent, scalable and cost-effective eDiscovery solutions is now being accelerated not just by existing and forthcoming legislation such as the new U.S. Federal Laws of Civil Procedure which takes effect on December 1, 2006, but also by an increasing need to overcome the costly effects and risks of disparate information silos that reside within the global enterprise. Autonomy's Aungate division specializes in providing leading solutions to resolve these fundamental challenges.

"Enterprises want to access, manage and organize varieties of content and data in a way that is transparent and easily understandable by users, IT staff and legal personnel. In addition, there can be consequences from failing to preserve electronic documents," said Debra Logan, research vice president of Gartner in her recent report entitled Dataquest Insight: Emerging E-Discovery Market Spurs New Content and Records Management Investments*. "Spending on electronic discovery software technologies and services is forecast to grow at more than 30% annually through 2010. Legal discovery will increasingly become a key driver for content and records management technologies and policies."

The latest releases of the Aungate intelligent real-time EDD and Real-Time Monitoring solutions enable the rapid collection, preparation, investigation, review and production of electronic evidence. Built on the IDOL platform, they allow investigators to apply a range of investigative techniques across a spectrum of data types. They not only deliver significant benefits in terms of cost and time savings, but also allow enterprise legal departments to develop effective investigation and records management strategies to address the requirements of the forthcoming legislation.

Most Scalable Solutions Available

With a growing market dominance, Autonomy has leveraged its extensive experience in the eDiscovery market to deliver the most scalable, web-based EDD solution available today. This latest release of Aungate EDD enables enterprises to index more than one billion documents, while providing automated multiple filter choices to rapidly reduce the data set. In addition, automatic user alerting minimizes duplication of investigation time and effort, while native format viewing and automated clustering enables real-time culling of non-relevant information across terabytes of data. Since the solution is based on Autonomy's IDOL platform, the EDD solution automatically understands the content and interrelationships of all enterprise information, independent of language and file format including email, instant messaging and rich media such as voice and video.

The Aungate Real-time Monitoring solution now also includes automated policy creation and culling options which enable the enterprise to rapidly extract concepts from terabytes of irrelevant data.

"Aungate is setting the standard in Real-Time Enterprise Governance operations, powering some of the world's largest enterprise and government real-time monitoring and records retention implementations," said Ian Black, managing director of Aungate. "These latest releases leverage Autonomy's award-winning IDOL platform to provide the full spectrum of information investigation techniques including keyword, conceptual, contemporary, pattern and behavioral analysis in a single screen. No other vendor offers such a complete range of real-time governance and EDD solutions."

About IDOL

At the heart of Autonomy's infrastructure software is the Intelligent Data Operating Layer™ (IDOL). IDOL sits above an organization's data and serves as a platform for the conceptual and contextual understanding of information in an enterprise. This complete infrastructure layer allows for the automatic categorization, tagging, linking, retrieval and profiling of all forms of unstructured information in real-time regardless of repository. It automatically analyzes any piece of information from 1000 different content formats, including text, voice or video and delivers over 500 functions including hyperlinking, agents, summarization, taxonomy generation, retrieval, channels, clustering, visualization, eduction, profiling, collaboration and alerting.

About Aungate

Autonomy's Aungate suite of products enables enterprises to achieve Real-Time Enterprise Governance by automatically understanding the content and interrelationships of all enterprise communications including email, voice and Instant Messaging. Aungate's unique technology powers real-time monitoring, alerting, policy management, electronic discovery and enforcement operations while proactively engaging behavioral change processes required to achieve best practice.

Aungate has quickly built a prestigious customer list, including the world's leading regulators and stock exchanges such as the U.S. SEC and NYSE as well as premier banks, litigation management companies and compliance publishers.
