elmundo.es' Autonomy Powered Website Surpasses 10 Million Unique Users Per Month

Autonomy selected by the leading online newspaper for the Spanish speaking world

Cambridge, UK – October 25th, 2006 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that El Mundo, the leading Spanish newspaper, has selected Autonomy's meaning-based technology for Spain's largest online newspaper elmundo.es. El Mundo currently licenses Autonomy to index over two million documents for an unlimited number of visitors to their site.

Autonomy was selected by elmundo.es as the only technology able to offer advanced functionality such as automatic hyperlinking across a range of news sources and different languages. Autonomy's ability to incorporate voice and video content and understanding of the online environment were also significant factors. elmundo.es announced record figures reaching 10 million unique readers in June, a 65% increase from statistics recorded at the beginning of the year. This huge increase in the number of readers per month reaffirms elmundo.es' position as the most consulted news site in Spain and the Spanish speaking world.

"We are thrilled by the increase in online traffic on elmundo.es and believe that Autonomy's unique technology is significantly enhancing the user experience on the site", commented Raúl Rivero, Technical Director of elmundo.es. "By allowing easier access to elmundo.es' content, Autonomy is ensuring that we not only attract new users but retain them."

Mike Lynch, CEO of Autonomy, commented: "The increased popularity of elmundo.es' Website over the past few months is an excellent example of the role innovation and technology can play within a traditional industry and their effect on the way people interact with data."
