ZANTAZ Announces Expanded Content Archiving and Discovery Tools for Improved Storage Management, Regulatory Compliance and Discovery Readiness
First Archive Content Archiving Solution Supports Additional Platforms, Ensures Easy and Timely Access and Review to Meet Compliance and Litigation Requirements
PLEASANTON, Calif. - July 11, 2006 - ZANTAZ, Inc., a global leader in content archiving and eDiscovery solutions, today announced major enhancements to ZANTAZ First Archive™, the only comprehensive solution for centralized mailbox management, compliant archiving and discovery readiness featuring any combination of hosted and on-site storage. With the First Archive solution, powered by the latest versions of ZANTAZ' award-winning EAS and Digital Safe technologies, organizations can more easily gain deeper insight into a much broader range of information assets, including Lotus Notes and Microsoft SharePoint, while reducing storage costs and the risks associated with not retaining email and other content in accordance with industry regulations and in preparation for litigation.
"With the volume of email and electronic files continuing to explode, the number and dollar amounts of fines related to the failure to meet discovery requests and retention regulations will continue to grow," said Brian Babineau, analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. "According to a 2005 study by IT analyst firm Enterprise Strategy Group, email has become the most frequently-requested type of business record by courts and regulators: 77% of organizations involved in an electronic data discovery request say they have been asked to produce email messages as part of a legal or regulatory proceeding. As a result, companies and their corporate counsel have an increased interest in new archiving technologies that encompass the full range of unstructured information, and are integrated with robust discovery capabilities."
"Merely creating an archive does not automatically ensure the ability to produce the information required for litigation or compliance in a timely manner," said Joe Romanowski, vice president of Product Strategy at ZANTAZ. "ZANTAZ First Archive delivers an advanced, centralized content archive management solution across multiple platforms with fully integrated tools to ensure easy and timely access and review of required information."
ZANTAZ First Archive now includes the following enhancements:
ZANTAZ EAS
With support for additional platforms, ZANTAZ EAS now enables organizations to centrally manage the process of capturing, preserving, and accessing corporate information from Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes/Domino, Microsoft SharePoint Portal Servers, and NTFS file shares. The newly released support for Microsoft SharePoint features all the benefits of the trusted and proven EAS architecture integrated seamlessly with the SharePoint Portal Server, including transparent user access to archived information and full text search using the native SharePoint search engine.
ZANTAZ EAS also now includes an expanded set of discovery capabilities to more quickly and cost-effectively review and produce information. Key new features include:
Rapid Review - Enables researchers to efficiently review enormous numbers of files and messages fully rendered without having to launch native applications.
Document Tagging During Review - Provides a way for the reviewer to add matter-centric tags to each reviewed message or file in order to preserve the review results or set a "hold flag" to prevent deletion.
Search Permissions - Enables organizations to restrict each researcher to a desired subset of the total archived mailboxes, providing more control over the discovery and review process, especially with regard to sensitive information such as executive email.
Expanded Export Options - Now exports to PST files (Microsoft Exchange), NSF files (Notes/Domino), and native format flat files.
ZANTAZ Digital Safe
ZANTAZ Digital Safe adds industry-leading compliance archiving, supervision and discovery features to First Archive, enabling organizations to meet specific industry and government regulations and be prepared for discovery requests.
Key new features of ZANTAZ Digital Safe include:
More Robust Searches through ZANTAZ Audit Center - ZANTAZ Audit Center, which supports more complex searches as well as high-volume exporting to litigation systems, now offers enhanced message tagging, which allows investigators and reviewers to set more flexible retention periods by individuals, groups, or organizations. Audit Center also supports a more complicated audit lifecycle, enabling audits to be handed off to different individuals or groups.
More Flexible Supervision Through ZANTAZ Digital Supervisor - Digital Supervisor, which enables organizations to monitor employee communications to meet industry regulations and corporate governance, now highlights search results within the context of the original message or attachment, making it easier and faster to identify relevant passages. Email can be forwarded directly from the Digital Safe archive, enabling a reviewer to quickly escalate an email beyond the defined Supervisor group. Digital Supervisor also now records each time a message is opened, allowing for expanded auditing of the supervisory function.
When deployed as a standalone solution, ZANTAZ Digital Safe also now supports the following capabilities (which are addressed by ZANTAZ EAS in a First Archive deployment):
Support for native Microsoft Exchange message format (msg), making it easier and faster to search archived data.
Single-instance storage for "instant ROI" by eliminating the storage of duplicates and near duplicates, which studies show can account for up to 80 percent of a typical archive.
Support for all Western European languages, ensuring more complete and accurate searches in less time across the distributed enterprise.
