Interwoven Announces Breakthrough Interwoven Composite Application Provisioning Solution for Global Enterprises

Launches applications up to 10 times faster; reduces application change cost by forty percent or more; enables regulatory compliance; enhances customer experience

SUNNYVALE, Calif - June 1, 2006 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), provider of Enterprise Content Management solutions for business, today announced its new Interwoven Composite Application Provisioning Solution (CAP) Solution. This breakthrough offering automates and streamlines the way composite applications are modified and deployed, providing global enterprises with accelerated agility to meet changing customer needs, respond quickly to shifts in business trends, and comply with regulatory requirements. This dramatic improvement to application provisioning is particularly valuable for enterprises that deploy service-oriented architectures (SOAs).

In most large enterprises, composite applications comprise the majority of revenue-generating and customer-facing applications, yet changes to this crucial software can be time-consuming, costly, and error-prone. The Interwoven CAP Solution ensures that these mission-critical applications are modified and deployed quickly, consistently, and without errors ? critical factors that can make the difference between keeping and losing customers. Companies using the Interwoven CAP Solution have reduced provisioning costs by an average of forty percent, eliminated errors, and delivered applications to market up to 10 times faster than before.

"Service-oriented architectures and composite applications play an increasingly central role in driving competitive advantage for today's companies," said Sheri Atwood, director of product marketing for IT solutions at Interwoven. "The Interwoven Composite Application Provisioning Solution eliminates the operational and compliance pain associated with these applications. It enables organizations to deploy new business solutions and customer-facing applications with all the speed, accuracy, and efficiency demanded to increase revenue, build customer loyalty, and enhance the customer experience."

Global Applications Drive Today's Customer Experience
The rise of composite applications (also known as custom applications, portals, web applications, web services, or complex applications) arrives together with enterprises' adoption of SOAs and their embrace of the Web as the prime channel for customer communication. Executives who make a top priority of delivering an optimal customer experience soon find that the ability to develop and deploy applications quickly, without errors, and in synch across global markets forms a key competitive differentiation.

For today's global enterprise, meeting and exceeding customer expectation is paramount. If a customer cannot instantly find the most current product information, pricing, or promotion, their reaction may be to go elsewhere ? quickly translating to revenue loss and smaller profit. For the enterprise, the challenge is significant. Customer-facing applications require frequent changes from multiple sources, such as source code repositories, software configuration management (SCM) tools, and content management systems. To date, application provisioning has been a-intensive process that is expensive, time-consuming, and error-prone. Additionally, regulatory requirements now demand that enterprises adopt standardized repeatable processes, segregated duties, formal accountability, and other controls to provide an audit trail.

The new Interwoven Composite Application Provisioning Solution meets these challenges head-on. The Interwoven solution provides out-of-the-box connectors to the most popular development and production environments, including SCM tools, application server suites, and content management systems. Additionally, Interwoven education, strategic services, and best practices help enterprises leverage the Interwoven CAP Solution to standardize the way their application changes are aggregated and deployed throughout testing, staging, and production.

The Interwoven CAP Solution also offers specific relief for key IT operations and compliance challenges: *IT operations: Interwoven automates the provisioning process and provides IT efficiency through features such as scheduling, version control, and rollback capabilities. Configurable workflow also streamlines the release process. *IT compliance: Interwoven meets Sarbanes Oxley and SEC regulations governing change and release management. It provides enterprises with a repeatable process, an audit trail of all code and content activity, synchronized updates across distributed environments, automated rollback (for example, to view customer-facing information as it was at any time, place, or touchpoint), and segregation of duties between development and IT operations.

The net effect of the Interwoven approach goes far beyond IT and operational effectiveness. The streamlined change and release of composite applications gives enterprises the ability to optimize business effectiveness by engaging with customers and other users via consistent, up-to-the minute applications across all touchpoints worldwide.

CAP Solution Partner Ecosystem
Based on Interwoven's deep experience with thousands of leading global enterprises and the company's ecosystem of partnerships with top technology companies such as Sun Microsystems and BEA Systems, the new solution is uniquely positioned to address business needs while integrating smoothly with enterprises' existing IT and development infrastructures.

"Web applications are increasingly complex, dynamic, and business-critical. In today's competitive global climate, data availability is more crucial than ever and record retention is a compliance requirement," said Ravindra Pendekanti, senior director of CRS Marketing at Sun Microsystems. " The Sun Content Infrastructure Solution, integrated with the Interwoven Composite Application Provisioning Solution, delivers a comprehensive approach to standardized change and release management and intelligent archiving to help organizations reduce costs, meet compliance requirements, and realize a more rapid return on investment."

"As a leader in Web content management, Interwoven is positioned to provide a solution designed to handle change and release management for composite applications that can meet the automation and compliance needs of IT operations," said Peter Cooper-Ellis, Executive Vice President of Engineering at BEA Systems, Inc. "Combined with the BEA WebLogic platform and the SOA based AquaLogic product family, BEA and Interwoven are working together to provide IT operations with a foundation designed to bring SOA applications to market quickly and efficiently."
