Independent Research Firm Recognizes Interwoven Solutions for Delivering Topline Business Benefits and Targeted Support for Industry-Specific Processes

Interwoven cited for leadership in business and persuasive content-centric applications

SUNNYVALE, Calif - May 22, 2006 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions for business, today announced that it was named a "Leader" in Business-Content-Centric Applications in the Forrester Wave™ report "Content-Centric Applications, Q1 2006," published March 29, 2006.[1]

As defined by Forrester Research, business-content-centric applications support employee collaboration and decision-making, and helps employees address day-to-day tasks, make better decisions, capture information, and improve their overall knowledge. To assess the current state of the market for these applications, Forrester evaluated the strengths and weaknesses of 13 key ECM vendors based on their current offerings, strategy, and market presence. Interwoven was among the select companies that Forrester invited to participate in the report.

According to the report, "Interwoven's strategy gives it a leg up in business and persuasive-content-centric apps. The vendor's focus on content-centric-applications makes it a Leader in business content and a high-scoring Strong Performer in persuasive content." A companion report, the "Forrester Wave Vendor Summary," affirms, "What's most compelling about Interwoven is its strategic and genuine embrace of content-centric apps, as opposed to the lukewarm enthusiasm for apps that some ECM vendors demonstrate. Interwoven clearly sees-with much greater clarity and realism than some of its competitors…"[2]

The Forrester Wave report also cited the strengths of Interwoven's capabilities for marketing-related processes, which play a key role in the recently introduced Interwoven Customer Experience Solution. "Interwoven's comprehensive Web content management and digital asset management, coupled with Web design agency relationships, put the vendor in an excellent position to address persuasive content needs."

Interwoven's focus on usability and desktop integration, as seen in the ability of users to access full collaborative document management functionality through a familiar Microsoft Outlook interface, also drew notice. "Interwoven WorkSite offers strong collaboration, document management, and records management and has embraced usability through the Microsoft Office Suite-namely Outlook-to provide enterprises with a highly usable, collaborative document management application."

"Interwoven is very pleased to receive such high praise and recognition from one of the industry's most prominent independent research firms," said Bill Seawick, Chief Marketing Officer, Interwoven, Inc. "Forrester's comprehensive analysis underscores the success Interwoven has had in bringing to market ECM solutions that empower enterprises to realize full value from their intellectual capital, reduce susceptibility to risk, improve efficiency, and increase market agility."
