Autonomy Delivers Future For K2 Enterprise Search Customers with New Product Release and Customer Support Program
K2 Version 7 Unites K2 Product Line with Autonomy's IDOL Platform; No Additional Software License Fees, Hardware or Migration Required
K2 Customer Assurance Program Offers Lifetime Support Guarantee For All Currently Supported Releases To Customers on Maintenance
SUNNYVALE, Calif. - May 1, 2006 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AUTN.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced availability of a new release of K2 Enterprise Search, K2 version 7, and a new support offering, the K2 Customer Assurance Program. These announcements demonstrate Autonomy's continued commitment to protecting customers' investments in K2 while offering a seamless path to next-generation technology.
Autonomy K2 version 7 (K2 7) extends the product line by delivering K2's robust enterprise search capabilities on the IDOL kernel, providing performance and scalability improvements and access to over 500 advanced features. The K2 product line includes K2 Enterprise Search, Profiler, Federator, Collaborative Classifier, and KeyView.
The K2 Customer Assurance Program delivers a lifetime support guarantee to customers who are on Autonomy's maintenance program by providing support for all currently supported releases as well as an upgrade to K2 version 7 with no additional software license fees for previously licensed K2 functionality. No migration is necessary as existing K2 applications run without change. No additional hardware is required to realize significant performance improvements that include a doubling in indexing performance and seven times increase in simple keyword query performance.
"Autonomy is committed to continue the support of past K2 versions and development of future K2 versions," said Dr. Mike Lynch, CEO and Founder of Autonomy. "We are pleased that the early release of K2 7 is now available to existing customers to allow the protection of their existing investments whilst opening up the new world of advanced features for which IDOL has become known in the market."
K2 7 highlights include:
- Existing K2 applications run unchanged; no need to migrate
- Linear scalability through a multi-threaded, 64-bit architecture
- Access to more than 500 advanced IDOL functions simply by adding API calls to customers' existing K2 applications
- Out-of-the box support for automatic hyperlinking, agents and alerting, automatic clustering, implicit query, automated query guidance, video and audio analysis
Autonomy is currently offering an Early Release Program that existing K2 customers on support and maintenance can participate in - at no additional cost. This Program will provide customers access to the software, prior to general availability, which is scheduled for the summer of 2006.
