In May of 2005, Interwoven announced that it had achieved Microsoft Gold Certified Partner status, expanding an already successful and well-established relationship between the two companies. The announcement outlined a go-to-market plan to deliver tightly integrated ECM solutions to professional services firm-including legal, accounting, management consulting, corporate legal departments, and IT consulting-to manage the entire content lifecycle through the tight integration of Interwoven ECM Solutions with the Microsoft platform including Office and Windows. Over the past year, the companies have generated tremendous traction in delivering a wealth of new business benefits to their mutual customer base:

Together, Interwoven and Microsoft now provide one of the industry's most complete end-to-end solutions for professional services firms to manage critical content, enhance client and business relationships, enable efficient collaboration over distance, and improve staff utilization. As a result, mutual customers can more easily leverage their investments in each company's technology.
  • Sales and Marketing Success-The companies' sales and marketing campaigns for the professional services industry have resulted in nearly 30 new customer wins over the past six months for Interwoven WorkSite and SharePoint Server including firms like Arnold & Porter; White & Case; Hogan and Hartson; and Wilson Sonsini.
  • Early Adoption of Microsoft SQL Server 2005-Early adoption by Interwoven of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 has enabled WorkSite customers to leverage the enhanced capabilities of the new SQL platform, which is offered as part of the WorkSite suite.
  • Tight Technology Roadmap Alignment-Interwoven and Microsoft's alignment of their respective product roadmaps has been extended to encompass additional Microsoft technologies including the 2007 Office system, Windows Vista, Rights Management Server, Windows Search, and WinFX as they relate to Interwoven's WorkSite and RecordsManager offerings. The companies are also exploring new mobility solutions based on Windows mobility software. For professional services organizations, this commitment to long-term technology collaboration promises tighter integration, broader solutions, and a more substantial return on investment from both Microsoft and Interwoven solutions.
  • Global Go-to-Market Collaboration-As a go-to-market Microsoft partner for professional services, Interwoven is now integrated into numerous existing Microsoft campaigns and programs, which help drive awareness and market penetration for WorkSite and other Interwoven professional services solutions. Interwoven is also a globally managed partner for Microsoft, and the companies leverage and invest in campaigns and sales efforts for professional services markets around the world.

As a featured sponsor of Interwoven GearUp '06, Microsoft will discuss a broad range of topics including the solutions currently available for enterprises and professional services firms; the value delivered by Interwoven WorkSite as integrated with the 2007 Office system and Office SharePoint Server 2007; the expansion of the relationship into additional industries; and the implications of the relationship for the companies' customers.

As Microsoft and Interwoven continue to invest in their relationship, the two companies are currently at work on a range of new initiatives. For example, new vertical solutions will enable Interwoven customers to leverage rich new capabilities in the 2007 Microsoft Office system, as well as to leverage the extensive workflow capabilities in WinFX to automate business processes within Interwoven WorkSite. Interwoven also plans to take advantage of Windows Vista, the latest version of Windows, to deliver professional services solutions that are easier to deploy, more secure, and more scalable than ever before.

"Having Microsoft and Interwoven working this closely together makes a big difference to us operationally and to our IT strategy," said Robert Marburger, chief information officer at Alston and Bird.
