ZANTAZ® Launches Digital Safe⢠Hosted Email Archive in Europe
Includes secure state-of-the-art hosting within the EU
Meets emerging legal and regulatory compliance needs for document retention and disclosure
Completes ZANTAZ product suite in Europe
LONDON (20 March 2006) - ZANTAZ, Inc., the global leader in Information Retention and Disclosure Management (IRDM) solutions, today announced that ZANTAZ Digital Safe, its flagship on-demand email archiving and disclosure product, is now available in Europe.
ZANTAZ Digital Safe is the leading on-demand email/file archiving and disclosure solution in the US, with 14 of the top 20 global financial firms on Wall Street as customers. It enables users to proactively manage their electronic information with full regulatory compliance and disclosure capabilities, allowing them to control risk and costs, while improving operational efficiency. To bring Digital Safe to Europe, ZANTAZ has established partnerships with state-of-the-art, high security hosting facilities within the European Union.
"In the North American region, ZANTAZ Digital Safe has helped many large global companies effectively manage business risk, organise proactive disclosure and meet very strict regulations, such as SEC 17a 4, which are crucial to their operations," said Glenn Perachio, Director of Europe for ZANTAZ. "Our European customers are increasingly concerned about complying with growing regulations and the requirements of electronic disclosure for litigation. It is important to them that these services are outsourced to an independent third party so that the onus is no longer on the customer, but is taken on by a trusted supplier."
Recent updates to the Civil Procedure Rules in the UK, as well as emerging regulations in Europe, have heightened the need for a fully compliant email archiving and litigation support solution like ZANTAZ Digital Safe. For example, along with current requirements coming from the Data Protection Act and FSA, the public sector in the UK must comply with the European Commission's Model Requirements for the Management of Electronic Records (MoREQ), governing records management systems and requiring that all inbound and outbound electronic mail messages and attachments be captured. In addition, the financial services industry throughout Europe is gearing up for the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID), which will be enforced in November, 2007.
"The update to the Civil Procedure Rules forces companies in the UK to take a hard look at their information retention policies and systems," said Gautam Bhattacharyya, a litigation partner at Richards Butler, an international firm renowned for its commercial litigation practice. "We are helping our large, global clients think about what IT systems, such as email archiving, need to be in place in order to be prepared for possible litigation and disclosure requirements."
In addition to European companies, ZANTAZ' US customers have asked for Digital Safe for their European subsidiaries, which face increasingly stringent rules requiring hosted data to remain within the European Union.
ZANTAZ Digital Safe completes the ZANTAZ product suite in Europe. Also available are the on-site ZANTAZ Enterprise Archive Solution (EAS) family of products, and the on-site or on-demand ZANTAZ Introspect litigation management products.
The ZANTAZ Digital Safe product family is a set of industry-leading, hosted compliance archiving, supervision, electronic data disclosure, and data restoration products and services delivered as on-demand solutions. The Digital Safe family is designed to help global organisations meet the supervision, records retention and retrieval requirements of industry and government regulations.

About IRDM
IRDM is accomplished when archiving and compliance "Information Retention" (IR) solutions are seamlessly integrated with electronic disclosure and litigation support "Disclosure Management" (DM) solutions. Such an approach is critical to enterprises that wish to better manage the risk of their electronic communication within the context of ECM enterprise content management (ECM). To realise the full benefits of "IR," corporations need to proactively retain live data such as emails and IM, as well archive paper and legacy data as electronic records (the full Information Lifecycle Management, or ILM, spectrum). The next step is to utilise an integrated disclosure management "DM" solution that seamlessly accepts this archived data for the purposes of searching, manipulating, and sharing this information during investigative or legal requests. Together, an IRDM solution allows large enterprises to reduce operational risks and costs, comply with legal, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements, and ultimately avoid costly reactive disclosure processes and steep penalties.
