Interwoven WorkSite Recognized by Independent Research Firm as "The Best-Kept Secret in Document Management"

Interwoven recognized for proven content-centric solution focus, ease-of-use, integrated collaboration, and deep integration with Microsoft

SUNNYVALE, Calif - February 13, 2006 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions for business, today announced that Forrester Research has recognized Interwoven WorkSite as the "Best Kept Secret in Document Management" in a recently-released report.[1] In the report, Forrester states that Interwoven's WorkSite document management (DM) offering "should be considered in any enterprise DM evaluation," highlighting Interwoven's key strengths including: providing content-centric solutions for specific vertical markets and business processes, ease-of-use, integrated collaboration, and deep integration with Microsoft desktop applications.

Currently, over 2,000 organizations worldwide rely on Interwoven DM to address key document management, records management, e-mail management, and collaboration processes in a single unified environment. Current customers include: ABN Amro; Aon; Bear Stearns; Bell Canada; Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts; Chungwa Telecom; City of Baltimore; Department of Homeland Security; Dolby Laboratories; DuPont; eBay; Eisner; Frank, Rimerman & Co; Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer; HealthSouth; John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance; Kronos; Masonite; PalmSource; Rothschild; Xchanging; and many more.

Forrester cites the ease-of-use of Interwoven WorkSite as a key contributing factor to its position as one of the industry's best DM offerings for enterprise-wide deployments. According to Forrester, Interwoven "excels at ease-of-use for both users and desktop administrators," greatly helping to improve end user adoption across the enterprise. Additionally, Forrester highlights Interwoven's tight integration with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel, as key to the broad adoption of WorkSite by both business users and IT since users can easily access content in Interwoven WorkSite directly from within the applications in which they spend most of their time.

Interwoven is also recognized by Forrester as providing organizations with a "powerful combination of document management and team collaboration capabilities." Unlike other DM systems that focus on the basic management and retention of documents, Interwoven DM offers robust, integrated collaboration functionality including sophisticated workflows, enabling the automatic routing of documents to appropriate business users, so even geographically-dispersed teams can easily collaborate on shared documents. According to Forrester, "WorkSite also offers comprehensive security features to enable extranet collaboration and document sharing."

Based on Interwoven's leading DM technology innovation, Forrester offers a recommendation to organizations to consider Interwoven WorkSite as a top choice for enterprise DM deployments: "Enterprises evaluating DM products with a strong emphasis on usability, desktop integration, workflow, collaborative workspaces, and out-of-the-box content-centric apps should give Interwoven a close look."

One enterprise that is already achieving clear value from Interwoven DM is Xchanging, a leading business processing services provider to the London insurance market. Xchanging adopted Interwoven to electronically manage the claims processed by the London insurance market, in which more than 40,000 insurance professionals work. Xchanging is leveraging Interwoven DM to provide insurers and brokers with a Market Repository in which workspaces are created for each risk in which they can directly store, share, manage, and access claims information. The streamlined process is expected to reduce the cost of processing claims, which requires multiple people and organizations to share documentation. Additionally, the approach provides secure, controlled access at all times throughout the claims process, and after.

"For such a complex and large scale document management project, we not only needed a robust and highly-scalable document management system, but one that is easy to use, so our customers have the best possible experience when accessing their information," said Eddie Balsom repository manager at Xchanging. "Interwoven WorkSite was the only system with the scalability, ease-of-use, and robust collaboration features to enable us to successfully achieve our objectives, and provide us with the foundation we need to expand over time. Claims is the first step in our use of the Market Repository."

Interwoven's strategy is to develop and deliver deep domain ECM solutions that are easy to implement, empower both business users and IT, and solve specific business process challenges, such as those related to document-intensive processes. Recognizing Interwoven for its proven success in delivering on its content-centric solution strategy, Forrester writes that "with WorkSite as the foundation, Interwoven offers burgeoning content-centric applications targeted at diverse user groups in vertical markets." Today, Interwoven offers a number of highly-targeted content-centric solutions based on its proven DM technology to facilitate team-based collaboration on document-related processes including new product launches, proposal and contract development, claims and accounts payable processing, corporate legal matters, general project management, and much more. Interwoven currently offers the following content-centric DM solutions:

"Interwoven's strong document management success continues to be driven by our focus on best-in-class usability and by providing targeted solutions that closely map to key document-centric challenges faced by departments and industries," said Bill Seawick, chief marketing officer at Interwoven. "For our many current document management customers, the business benefits of WorkSite highlighted by Forrester should resonate well with their own experiences, and we look forward to the opportunity to continue delivering such strong ROI to a growing number of enterprises. As we continue to extend our capabilities, Interwoven's focus will remain on bringing to market robust, easy-to-use solutions that these organizations can put into place for immediate value."
