AUTONOMY UPDATE ON MERGER INTEGRATION

Cambridge, England - 1 February 2006 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced the extension of its industry leadership position during a normally difficult merger integration process. In December 2005 Autonomy completed the acquisition of Verity, Inc. The combined company is the acknowledged industry leader, with nearly 1,000 employees and more than 16,000 customers around the world. Throughout 2005 and into 2006 Autonomy has extended this leadership position through a successful integration process and key new and repeat customer wins, whilst maintaining competitive win rates despite disruptive programs from competitors.

During the integration process Autonomy has conducted a series of one-to-one meetings and web seminars with customers, partners and OEMs to discuss the completed Verity integration process. Reception from the field has been very positive, particularly surrounding the first implementations of IDOL K2, with customers already abandoning a number of failing implementations of competitive systems and purchasing Autonomy's industry-leading product line. The integration process is running ahead of schedule, with staff redundancies now complete, at only approximately 5% of the company primarily in duplicative finance and administrative roles.

The recent success has been achieved despite continued programs from competitors designed to disrupt business. Autonomy has maintained its 90% win rate in head-to-head comparisons; no customers, OEMs or resellers have terminated arrangements; and staff retention has been excellent. Certain synergies have also materialized as expected with support staff for customers more than doubling and R&D budgets up nearly 100%. Non-continuing aspects of the business have been shut down, with changes required for expected cost synergies already achieved.

Autonomy has previously announced the completion of the compatibility of IDOL and Verity's K2, ongoing K2 development and continued support for all existing implementations and K2 going forward. The next major release of K2, K2-7, will further protect existing K2 customers' investments by ensuring that applications operate in the same mode as existing standalone K2 without disruption, or if desired running as an IDOL function giving seamless access to advanced capabilities available through Autonomy's innovative IDOL technology.

"Verity customers have responded positively to the knowledge that the K2 line and their investments in it are safeguarded and the new possibilities of IDOL are now available to them. Autonomy now offers the best of both technologies," said Anthony Bettencourt, CEO of Autonomy, Inc.

"During past year Autonomy has continued to build on the K2-IDOL 5.0 compatibility, and have announced K2-7 with significantly enhanced performance," said Dr. Peter Menell, Autonomy's group Chief Technology Officer.
