AUTONOMY ANNOUNCES COMPLETION OF K2-IDOL INTEGRATION

Function for Function Compatibility Safeguards the Investments of K2 Installed Base

Cambridge, England, November 10, 2005 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced its initial roadmap for existing customers of Verity. The news follows the announced signing of a definitive agreement for the acquisition of Verity by Autonomy.

Dr. Mike Lynch, CEO and Founder of Autonomy commented on the integration: "Autonomy's IDOL has for the last year been capable of operating in K2 emulation mode, this mode has successfully been used by existing Verity customers to leverage previous investments in K2 systems while allowing customers to add advanced IDOL features going forward. This operationally proven approach allows existing Verity customers to incrementally leverage unique IDOL functions for automation, as well as introduce video and audio handling into systems without requiring them to replace, relicense or reintegrate their existing K2 implementations. K2's advanced, word-based and tunable approaches are fully respected and combine with the advanced pattern technologies for which Autonomy has won acclaim." The final aspects of this work have now been completed.

Noting successful integrations in the field, Peter Menell, CTO of Autonomy said: "Over the past year, integrated customers created and managed over 100,000 separate instances of unique K2 objects such as K2 Topics, VQL, K2 Taxonomies and K2 vector-based categories within integrated deployments of IDOL 5.0. The customer is the real winner; they enhance their system while leveraging their past investments."

Additional highlights of the announcement included:

  • Continued support, enhancement and accelerated future development of Ultraseek as a mid market offering.
  • Continued support and accelerated future development of Cardiff business process and capture solutions. This includes the additional integration of LiquidOffice and TeleForm into Aungate for compliant business process management.
  • Continued support and accelerated future development of Autonomy Enterprise AWE as the company’s singular enterprise desktop solution. Development of the 80/20 desktop solution which is due to be shipped shortly would not continue.
  • Continued support of K2 with the optional ability to upgrade to more advanced automation, audio and video functionality and no need to disrupt existing implementations. New K2 releases being IDOL compatible.

In closing Dr. Lynch commented: "Our IDOL platform will continue to build on the success of IDOL 5.0 in the marketplace with additions of future functionality resulting directly from significant increases in R&D expenditure over the last year."
