Microsoft announce Public Record Office approval for SharePoint Portal Server with Meridio

Microsoft SharePoint with Meridio 4.2 Electronic Document and Records Management Software receives PRO2002 Certification

Reading, 25 October 2004. Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 integrated with Meridio V4.2 Electronic Document and Records Management Software has been PRO2002 approved. The PRO2002 standard is the most complete standard for electronic records management systems in the world, designed by The National Archives in collaboration with the central government records management community.

"The UK government has committed to online delivery of all government services by 2005 and the management of electronic records is recognised as one of the vital components in achieving this ambitious target. The combination of Microsoft SharePoint and Meridio's EDRM solution addresses this need for Public Sector organisations and Meridio are the first of Microsoft's partners to be PRO2002 approved with a solution integrated with SharePoint." Said Terry Smith, Senior Director Public Sector, Microsoft Ltd.

All central government organisations must be able to store and retrieve their public records electronically by the end of 2004 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000 will come into force in January 2005 making EDRM a necessity to achieve the targets laid down by government for information retrieval. Meridio 4.2 is the latest release of the Meridio EDRM software which has been designed to transparently integrate with Microsoft Office System to enable government organisations to leverage their Microsoft investments and make their online targets achievable.

Brian Baird, CEO Meridio said 'Meridio is a significant player in the document and records management industry. In the changing regulatory environment of government it is important that EDRM products meet the very high standards defined by compliance bodies such as the UK's The National Archive. Meridio is focused on being a key solution provider in all these areas for organisations using the Microsoft platform."

Meridio EDRM has been designed on the Microsoft .NET platform, providing the closest available integration with Microsoft Office System. Meridio enables organizations to integrate their existing information sources seamlessly and securely. Users can access the full functionality of the Meridio records management solution via familiar Microsoft tools, maximizing adoption and reducing training overheads.
