AUTONOMY POSITIONED IN THE LEADER QUADRANT IN 2005 INFORMATION ACCESS TECHNOLOGY MAGIC QUADRANT
San Francisco, California - October 20, 2005 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that independent research firm Gartner, Inc. has positioned Autonomy in the leader quadrant in its 2005 Information Access Technology Magic Quadrant report. (1)
According to Gartner, vendors listed in the leader's quadrant are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market. The report states, "Autonomy continues to expand its IDOL platform to include new capabilities, and it is the most aggressive vendor in addressing video and audio objects in its target capabilities. Its vision and execution status is founded on sound financials, a strong and growing customer list, and a vigorous vision for the burgeoning role of information access."
"With over five years continued profitability and sustained corporate growth, Autonomy enjoys a distinguished customer list comprising some 2,500 blue chip customers and is proud to be positioned by Gartner in the leader quadrant for Information Access Technology" said Mike Lynch, CEO co-founder, Autonomy. "We are honored to be recognised for our next generation technology and feel that our visionary approach is strong testament to our continuing commitment to innovation."
Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. Autonomy grants enterprises the flexibility to use advanced information retrieval or legacy-based approaches. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to process text, voice and video, and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information. Autonomy's technology also drives collaboration across the enterprise and enables organizations to effectively leverage expertise. Autonomy's infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
