Autonomy Announces Significant Expansion in Germany

Cambridge, England - 28 September 2005 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announces a significant expansion of its operations in Europe focused on the emerging economic growth in Germany. As part of the expansion Autonomy has acquired all outstanding shares of global linxs Gmbh, whose company global linxs GmbH was Autonomy's Partner of the Year for 2004.

Autonomy opened it offices in Germany in 1999 and since then has built an impressive customer base including Infineon, Vodafone, Henkel and AOL. The expanded operations will include approximately 16 exceptionally skilled employees who will significantly enhance Autonomy's presence in Germany and its resources worldwide. The expanded operations in Germany will be led by Jakob Riegger and Benjamin Bedekovic who are co-founders of global linxs. This expansion underscores Autonomy's commitment to the German market at a time of emerging economic growth in the region.

Dr. Mike Lynch, group CEO, commented: "We are extremely excited about the expansion of our operations in Germany. global linxs has a strong track record of penetrating key German corporate accounts and this acquisition is particularly important at a time of economic change in Germany. We believe that this expansion will give Autonomy additional critical mass in the German market and positions us well for future growth in the region."

Mr. Riegger commented: "For many years the global linxs team has maintained a reputation for excellence. Having worked with the company for many years it is clear that Autonomy is undoubtedly the most promising global leader in infrastructure software. As part of the Autonomy group we will be able to unleash new potential from the combined operations and work towards the further growth of profitable and long term customer relationships."

Autonomy has issued 388,084 Autonomy ordinary shares in consideration for acquisition of all outstanding shares of global linxs Gmbh for aggregate consideration of €2,010,000. Admission for these shares is expected on or about 29 September 2005 to the Official List and to trading on the London Stock Exchange. The acquisition is expected to be accretive to earnings in the fourth quarter of 2005 and not have a material impact on results in the third quarter of 2005.
