Brazilian Nuclear Power Utility Chooses Verity for its Intranet Web Site

ELETRONUCLEAR Selects Verity K2 Enterprise Solution for its Search Relevance, and Categorization and Scalability Capabilities

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - 2005-09-26 - Verity Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTY), a leading provider of enterprise search software that enables organizations to discover, analyze and process all the digital information within their enterprises, today announced that Eletrobrás Termonuclear S.A., a nuclear power utility whose majority owner is the Brazilian government, has implemented Verity® K2 Enterprise (K2E) software to provide search and classification on its main intranet Web site that connects to different data sources, including its operating reports.

The utility, known as ELETRONUCLEAR, sought an enterprise search solution that would help to improve its employees' productivity, while extending its world-class safety standards to the company's intranet Web site.

Nuclear utilities often draw on their own operating experience as well as the experience of similar companies around the globe. ELETRONUCLEAR combines its own operating experience with the collective experience of the industry through the World Association of Nuclear Operators in its knowledge repositories to allow its personnel to draw on a vast amount of intellectual capital with speed and accuracy.

"Brazil's ELETRONUCLEAR relies on just-in-time information management, providing our employees with the most up-to-date information 24x7. Efficient and fast delivery of relevant information is the key benefit of the Verity technology" said Luiz Celso Oliveira, ELETRONUCLEAR's external operating experience coordinator. "The utility's operating reports are expected to be made readily available, and used by a broad spectrum of our personnel to support safe and reliable performance of the nuclear power utility. Acquiring and using relevant operating experience is a job expectation for many positions across the utility. Verity K2E is an effective and easy-to-use enterprise search solution. We expect that it will be widely used by our personnel to enhance their productivity and job performance."

ELETRONUCLEAR evaluated other search solution options. However the advanced search and classification capabilities of the Verity software were seen as clearly superior to the others considered. Further, the scalability of the K2E software to handle content growth made it the solution that best fits ELETRONUCLEAR's business needs and requirements.

"ELETRONUCLEAR is a standard bearer in operating excellence for nuclear power utilities," said Anthony J. Bettencourt, Verity's chief executive officer. "It sought to improve the quality of search on the company's internal Web presence to properly reflect its operating reputation. We feel honored that an organization that demands excellence of itself saw excellence in Verity K2 Enterprise software."
