Virage Announces Release of VideoLogger 6.3

Enhanced Functionality Allows Increasingly Sophisticated Manipulation of Rich Media Assets

San Francisco, CA - September 12th, 2005 - Virage, a wholly owned subsidiary of Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L) and a visionary in Rich Media Asset Management technology, today announced the official release of VideoLogger 6.3. The upgrade of Virage's powerful, award-winning video indexing software, enhances the technology's core functionality and allows more sophisticated processing of the full range of multimedia assets.

VideoLogger is an integral piece of the Virage architecture and this significant upgrade enhances existing functionality such as speech recognition, smart-clipping and intelligent retrieval. Using VideoLogger 6.3, it is now possible to search television, video and audio streams by speaker, location and topic simultaneously, allowing users to find clips on, for example, George Bush, speaking in New Orleans about Hurricane Katrina. This is achieved without the need for manual metadata tagging of the content. The release of VideoLogger 6.3 also signals improved speech recognition capabilities, allowing optimal throughput for large volumes of data, in multiple formats and with improved accuracy. In addition, VideoLogger 6.3 allows users to choose between periodic sectioning, dynamic analysis sectioning and static analysis sectioning.

The benefits of using VideoLogger 6.3 include improved efficiency and significant cost savings as the technology allows the creation of multiple encoded versions at different bit rates, at the same time video is being indexed. By making video easy to identify, locate and re-use, VideoLogger 6.3 allows pieces to be assembled and repurposed faster and with greater accuracy. Because the video is data-driven, it can be tied to applications for revenue generation, enhanced collaboration and expedited communication. In addition, VideoLogger 6.3 can be easily tailored to suit any specific workflow need and the open architecture of VideoLogger makes it easy to integrate into the existing IT infrastructure and to incorporate into a broad range of custom applications.

Rowan Gardner, Virage, commented: "The significant upgrade of one of our flagship products is the result of our continued commitment to R&D. Virage constantly strives to maintain its position at the forefront of Rich Media Asset Management and create software which helps shape the way multimedia assets are viewed and exploited."

Virage is exhibiting at IBC (stand 8.129).
