ZANTAZĀ® EAS to Offer Integration with Records Management and Enterprise Content Management Solutions

Planned ZANTAZ EAS API Release to Address Critical Customer Issues of Corporate Governance and Risk Management

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (August 23, 2005) ILTA 2005 - ZANTAZ, Inc., the global leader in Information Retention and Discovery Management (IRDM) solutions, today announced at ILTA 2005, plans to release enhancements to its Application Program Interface (API) allowing for integration of its mailbox and file management solution, ZANTAZ EAS, with Records Management (RM) and Enterprise Content Management (ECM) systems. Through future partnerships, RM and ECM vendors can utilize this API to easily integrate their systems with ZANTAZ EAS, providing customers with optimized storage space, streamlined data management, better overall return on investment and, ultimately, improved risk management and compliance.

Email management is one of the greatest challenges that corporations face today. With increasing amounts of data generated every day, both large and small organizations require a solution that integrates existing RM and ECM platforms with email archives and related documents. According to Enterprise Strategy Group, it is estimated that 75 percent of most companies' intellectual property is contained in messages and attachments sent through the organization via email, yet very few companies have processes in place to address the situation.

"Companies are feeling the pain of not having clear corporate policy around email retention, and are only beginning to address the issue," said Kenneth Chin, vice president, Gartner Research. "Email archiving products that provide a solution to meet corporate retention policies and improve the level of service to users are good first steps - but fuller records retention and document management activity will also be required. So few companies have these policies and processes in place, the exposure to legal and regulatory violations is great, and addressing the issue should be a priority."

"Our customers, in industries such as financial services, healthcare, and legal, tell us that they constantly struggle to meet the internal and external demands for better control of the critical information their organizations generate on a daily basis," said Joe Romanowski, VP of Product Strategy, ZANTAZ. "Integration of ZANTAZ EAS with our customer's RM and ECM systems will give them the power to control their information through corporate policies-using our records-in-place approach that eliminates the need to move data between multiple repositories, while preserving their existing workflow."

To meet these customer-driven requirements, ZANTAZ will partner with industry leaders in RM and ECM, enabling them to provide their customers with better control of the massive amounts of data stored in their organizations, including email, instant messages, Microsoft Office files, web content and all other data that resides within RM and ECM systems.

The ZANTAZ EAS Records-In-Place Approach

Balancing internal retention policies and external regulatory and legal demands for documents from multiple applications, while regulating and managing end-user access is a tall order for many organizations today. By enabling the ZANTAZ EAS email repository to be accessed by existing records management systems, business users can view and manage email records through a centralized RM console, eliminating the need to set and maintain records retention policies in each application. This records-in-place approach lowers costs and simplifies implementation as the email remains in the EAS repository throughout its life cycle. The result is better overall return on investment for these applications, and the assurance that archived information is accessible to a chain of business processes, from information archiving and retention, records management, document management and compliance, to electronic discovery and litigation support.

About the Products

The ZANTAZ EAS family of products offers an entire suite of solutions that help organizations fully optimize their email and file storage needs, significantly reduce IT overhead and dramatically increase end-user productivity-all while ensuring the long-term retention and instant retrieval of email and files in the event of a regulatory investigation or an electronic discovery request.
