Cambridge, England, 4 July 2005 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that it has extended its award winning IDOL technology for use in consumer applications. Recent investment in research and development has led to the development of Autonomy's core IDOL technology, which is used in large enterprise deployments worldwide, specifically for use in the consumer technology market. Bringing enterprise class retrieval technology to the consumer market, Autonomy's IDOL technology will allow large content providers and Internet Service Providers to embed Autonomy within their own retrieval products enhancing their services to include next generation retrieval and content capabilities for processing multimedia content. The technology, already implemented in the innovative internet TV service at http://www.blinkx.tv, elevates the level of retrieval capabilities consumer technologies can to offer to users worldwide.

"Autonomy's IDOL technology is already a leader in the enterprise market. The challenge faced by major content providers and ISPs in their consumer markets is no less daunting.
