AUTONOMY TO ENABLE SEAMLESS KNOWLEDGE FLOW FOR PILLSBURY WINTHROP SHAW PITTMAN LLP

San Francisco, CA - 13th June 2005 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AUTN.L) a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, a leading international law firm, has extended its use of Autonomy software to include IDOL 5.0 and Active Windows Extension (AWE).

AWE enables Pillsbury to execute implicit query, secure integrated desktop and intranet search, while automatically sharing information between clients, lawyers and support staff in real time, with no interruption of workflow.

"At Pillsbury we are dedicated to ensuring that every part of our business is client-focused," said Chief Information Officer, Warren Jones of Pillsbury. "With Autonomy, our lawyers will be able to quickly identify changes to information affecting their clients and active cases on a per person basis. Autonomy's automatic classification and presentation technology will enable our Pillsbury Connect portal to be more than a single point of access for clients, but also a portfolio of knowledge development information that in-house counsel can share with line managers. Our goal is to extend the value of our counsel and ultimately reduce expenditures for our clients."

Pillsbury has already deployed Autonomy across 16 offices, utilized by 900 lawyers and support staff. With the expanded deployment, the firm will be extending the benefits to its clients, allowing up to 200,000 people to access and utilize relevant data and documents. Pillsbury originally implemented Autonomy to consolidate research of all knowledge files, data repositories, corporate intranet and unstructured data.

"Autonomy already allows our attorneys to save time in locating and managing information. By utilizing these new features, we will be able to provide an integrated flow of up-to-the-minute information to our client teams, giving them tools that we expect will provide a long-term advantage for our clients" added Jones.

"The best legal strategy relies on the best information. One of the major problems facing law firms today is the time spent on sifting through terabytes of data, of which 80% is unstructured and difficult to locate," said Stouffer Egan, chief executive officer, Autonomy U.S. "Autonomy automates that process in a way that will allow Pillsbury to scale to include direct access for clients as well ease the communication burden for lawyers."

Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. Autonomy grants enterprises the flexibility to use advanced information retrieval or legacy-based approaches. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to process text, voice and video, and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information. Autonomy's technology also drives collaboration across the enterprise and enables organizations to effectively leverage expertise. Autonomy's infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
