BBC BROADCAST SELECTS AUTONOMY'S TECHNOLOGY FOR VIDEO-ON-DEMAND SEARCH TOOL

Cambridge, England - 25 May, 2005 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AUTN.L) BBC Broadcast, one of the commercial companies of the BBC, has announced its selection of Autonomy's technology for the development of its Video-On-Demand (VOD) search tool. The tool will enable the automation and search of media and automated publishing of content over multiple platforms, including broadband and mobile. Autonomy will provide the backend retrieval for BBC Broadcast's VOD tool, enabling retrieval and recommendation through BBC Broadcast's online store of media. Kontiki, the content delivery specialists, will provide the user interface and the delivery to multiple hardware platforms.

Autonomy's unique IDOL IPTV Module allows the understanding and searching of video content to enable the production and delivery of IPTV and Video-On-Demand Services. Autonomy integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to process text, voice and video and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information. Autonomy's technology also drives collaboration across the enterprise and enables organizations to effectively leverage expertise. Autonomy's infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
