Verity Introduces the First Business Process Management Solution with In-Process Enterprise-Class Search

Newest Version of Verity LiquidOffice Provides Real-Time Access to Time-Sensitive Content Across Entire Business Process Lifecycle

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - 2005-04-18 - The wait to get critical information from within a business process is over. Verity Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTY), a leading provider of enterprise software that enables organizations to maximize the return on their intellectual capital investment, today announced availability of the first business process management (BPM) solution with enterprise-class, full-text search for immediate access to time-sensitive content across the entire business process lifecycle.

Adding to its unique strengths in paper and electronic content capture and a robust open architecture approach to BPM, Verity® LiquidOffice™ version 4.0 is the only BPM solution with the built-in capability to search, evaluate and monitor in-process content and other information. It allows content to be surfaced at the right step and time in a business process so better decisions can be made in a more complete context, more quickly. This means the delay to get to crucial information until a business process has run its course and is placed in a data repository is eliminated completely.

"Visibility into the content and processes has typically been a backward-looking exercise," said Nathaniel Palmer, chief analyst of Delphi Group, a Perot Systems Company. "Verity LiquidOffice provides forward-looking visibility into real-time data and in-flight processes, allowing decisions and analysis to be made on current context, and avoiding the traditional time-lag associated with process performance data."

Companies in virtually every industry, including those in the Global 2000 and public sector organizations, rely on Verity LiquidOffice to accelerate revenue and profit, ensure compliance and connect their global workforce with information and processes. Verity LiquidOffice is the only BPM solution that seamlessly integrates content, process and people in an adaptive, rapidly deployable environment. The product encompasses all stages of the business process lifecycle with an intuitive design and modeling environment, vigorous process orchestration, comprehensive reporting and analytics capabilities, and open, standards-based support for human and machine interfaces.

"We are using the latest version of Verity LiquidOffice at American HomePatient and we've cut the time it takes to process sales orders, no matter how intricate," said Doug Gouy, American HomePatient's vice president of revenue management. "This BPM solution has quickly shown a tremendous ability to deliver meaningful returns, in terms of productivity, employee and customer satisfaction. We are very excited about the improvements within LiquidOffice version 4.0 and we are confident it will allow us to continue to improve productivity across the organization."

As a result of Verity's acquisition of Dralasoft, provider of the OEM process engine that was embedded in version 3.0 of LiquidOffice, the new release more fully exploits the engine's capabilities. In addition, Verity LiquidOffice version 4.0 has a completely scalable and redundant core architecture, enterprise-strength security as well as extensive audit tracking functionality and end-user enhancements that deliver greater value to the processes that drive organizations of any size and complexity.

"The introduction of Verity LiquidOffice version 4.0 redefines BPM. It expands BPM from a way to manage a process within a business to a way to better manage that business," said Anthony J. Bettencourt, Verity's president and chief executive officer. "The instant insight to be gained through the integration of enterprise-class search with highly flexible and scalable process management software is invaluable. Unexpected opportunities and challenges, even trends can be identified and acted upon much earlier than ever before using Verity LiquidOffice."

Enterprise-Strength Scalability

To match the enterprise-class search is enterprise-strength scalability. Verity LiquidOffice is now capable of being deployed in a multi-server environment to accommodate the growth of people, processes and information across an enterprise. Server redundancy also ensures 24/7 uptime for critical applications and increased performance.

Control and Compliance

Verity LiquidOffice enforces adherence to best practices, corporate policies and government regulations by centralizing processes and control structures across an enterprise. It affords visibility into those processes, notifies risk managers of non-compliance and automates corrective actions and responses.

Expanded tracking and auditing capabilities found in this new LiquidOffice version log system administrator activities such as changing rights and permissions in the management console as well as every time a user accesses or views form-based content.

"BPM infrastructure enables a business to leverage information resources across the enterprise to meet mission and time critical business objectives. Verity LiquidOffice facilitates business growth by providing the tools a business needs to accelerate its processes, manage change, and maintain compliance to a model based on established best practices. Investment in a well-planned BPM system, such as the one we implemented at American HomePatient, provides quick return, and immense potential for long-term growth in any segment of the enterprise", said Roscoe Shelton, senior business processor developer at AccuImage, LLC, a certified Verity reseller OneSource partner that managed the AHP deployment. For users of Verity K2 Enterprise advanced search software, their investment in that technology is extended to include search, classification, recommendation, monitoring and alerting capabilities to in-process content on a LiquidOffice server.

Securely Connect People

The Verity BPM solution securely connects all people across the enterprise and geographies with information and processes, whether inside or outside the enterprise firewall. For example, the new HTML electronic signature validation helps organizations comply with standards for electronic records and the authentication of signatures on HTML forms. Further, users can be assigned different permission rights at each stage of a process, such as being allowed to view only certain in-process form-based content.

Verity LiquidOffice also includes several new features that optimize designer productivity and further accelerate deployment of processes. The Form Designer feature supports Unicode character sets that extend the reach of business process internationally. The Verity BPM solution is the only one that is form format agnostic, supporting both paper forms and all of the digital forms found in the enterprise, such as HTML, PDF, InfoPath, paper and TabletPC. Users can participate in the same process transparently, using the format that makes the most sense for them and their environment.

Verity LiquidOffice version 4.0 is the first BPM solution to result from the company's acquisition of Cardiff Software and Dralasoft. It demonstrates Verity's commitment to deliver on the promise of the blending of these organizations and technologies. It is currently available from Verity and its global network of sales partners.
